In the new spin-off series, Y: Marshals, I’m excited to be part of the talented cast that will be gracing our screens early next year, with the story centering around the familiar character, Kayce Dutton.
The show resumes featuring Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce, who now assumes a position within an elite US Marshal team. His expertise as a cowboy and Navy SEAL is leveraged to deliver justice in the expanses of Montana.
The summary provided by CBS hints that he and his colleagues have to juggle family responsibilities, professional obligations, and the deep emotional strain that accompanies being the final barrier against violence in the region.
It seems that the team has expanded by one member, as it’s now official that Logan Marshall-Green will be taking on the character of Pete Calvin – a former military comrade who is friendly with Kayce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In recent years, Marshall-Green has been featured in several notable productions, such as Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, Leigh Whannell’s Upgrade, and the popular Netflix film Carry-On starring Taron Egerton.
Lately, he has been added to the cast of “And Just Like That…” (the Sex and the City follow-up) for its third season. In this series, he will portray Seema’s romantic interest, Adam. Additionally, he has secured a role in director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, “The Odyssey”.
Instead of premiering on Paramount Network or Paramount+, where the original show Yellowstone aired jointly, the spin-off titled Y: Marshals will first appear on the popular American broadcast network, CBS.

Consequently, it’s likely that the new format will lean towards a more step-by-step approach compared to the original series, which was structured as a longer, serialized narrative focusing on the Dutton ranch. This type of storytelling is typically the norm for most U.S. network dramas.
Enhancing the validity of this theory is the shift in showrunners, where franchise originator Taylor Sheridan steps aside, making room for Spencer Hudnut to assume control – a screenwriter renowned primarily for his work on the military drama SEAL Team.
As a cinephile eagerly waiting for updates, I can confirm that further details about the cast are yet to be unveiled, and our UK broadcast partner is still under wraps. Rest assured, I’ll keep you posted with all the latest news on this exciting project!
Yellowstone is available to stream on Paramount+. Y: Marshals is coming soon.
