Umamusume: Pretty Derby was a huge phenomenon in 2025. It was incredibly popular for a while – you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing something about the anime’s horse girl characters – though the hype has died down a little now.
While the popular game continues to thrive, if you’re looking for a more realistic experience, Leonardo Interactive has a new title called Champions Stable: Equestrian Dynasty. It focuses on the world of real jockeys and horses, and it seems like you can expect a less fantastical atmosphere than some other games.
Here’s the announcement trailer:
Champions Stable is an open-world horse racing management game, developed in Unreal Engine and scheduled for release on PC and consoles in 2026.
During races, you can either take direct control of your horse or switch to an overhead view to monitor your team’s stats and strategy.
Here’s a little more info on what the game entails:
In Champions Stable, every choice you make is important. Whether it’s about breeding horses, managing money, planning training, or improving your facilities, the game creates a realistic and dynamic world where even small details can determine if you win or lose. You’ll bid in live auctions, keep an eye on your competition, and carefully select horse bloodlines to breed winning champions. Compete on beautifully recreated versions of famous racetracks from around the globe, including Ascot, Tokyo Racecourse, Churchill Downs, Flemington, Longchamp, Capannelle, and Meydan.
The game seems pretty immersive – you can freely explore a large open world when you’re not racing, and you also get to care for your horses by grooming them and developing a close relationship with them.
It seems likely this game will be released on PS5 sometime next year. If it is, it will be interesting to see how well the game’s controls work with the DualSense controller.
