You don’t often find a movie this wonderfully strange, goofy, and purely fun. It’s delightfully chaotic, to be honest. It’s not a cinematic masterpiece, but it’s hugely enjoyable. And you only have a few days left to watch it on Tubi before it’s gone!
Starring Jason Statham, Rainn Wilson, and Cliff Curtis, The Meg is a thrilling movie with a wild premise: a gigantic, supposedly extinct shark attacks a submarine, leaving its crew stranded deep in the Pacific Ocean. With time quickly running out, an expert oceanographer enlists the help of rescue diver Jonas Taylor to save the crew and protect the ocean from this 75-foot prehistoric shark, known as the Megalodon. Despite a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, The Meg is a genuinely fun and exciting watch.
Just Let Yourself Enjoy The Utter Insanity
Film critic Keith Garlington points out that The Meg doesn’t try to be anything other than a silly, over-the-top action movie starring Jason Statham, and that’s exactly what makes it fun. It doesn’t take itself seriously, and it doesn’t try to be a classic shark thriller like Jaws or Deep Blue Sea. As Julie Crawford of The North Shore News puts it, sometimes you just want a fun, mindless summer blockbuster – Jason Statham fighting a giant shark definitely fits the bill!
Don’t expect a masterpiece, and you’ll have a good time. This movie isn’t going to win any awards, but it’s a perfectly enjoyable way to spend an hour and 52 minutes. It’s a classic, cheesy B-movie – full of over-the-top action, silly lines, and…well, acting. If you just want to relax and have some fun, The Meg is worth watching while it’s still available on Tubi.
