There’s a wedding in the air.

Rapper Young Thug proposed to singer Mariah the Scientist on stage at his benefit concert in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 16th, and she accepted!

In videos circulating on social media, rapper Young Thug (born Jeffery Lamar Williams II) proposed to his partner. As the words “Will You Marry Me?” appeared on a screen behind him, he knelt and presented her with a large engagement ring. He became visibly emotional as she accepted, and the crowd erupted in cheers.

Thug, concerned about what was happening, asked her to repeat herself. Mariah then said, “I think I’m going to get married.”

In a recent video, Mariah showed off her engagement ring to the camera. The ring features a large diamond set on multiple bands, all surrounded by smaller diamonds. This engagement news follows four years of dating, as Mariah and her partner first connected in 2021.

Okay, so everyone was talking about whether they’d broken up for ages, and honestly, it was killing me! But then, in October, Thug finally confirmed it – they’d actually split up, even if just for a little while. It was awful hearing it, but at least the mystery was over, I guess.

Okay, so things were a little complicated recently. I actually just went through a breakup, but I’m still seeing someone. It’s not exactly a traditional relationship – she doesn’t have a boyfriend, but we’re definitely dating. It’s a bit of a fluid situation, to be honest!

The rapper publicly confirmed they were back together when he celebrated Mariah’s 28th birthday. He shared a photo of her in the car on Instagram on October 27th, with a caption saying, “Happy birthday, baby mama, I love you.”

And right before their engagement, Mariah also opened up about her hope for her next chapter.

Mariah Carey recently shared that she’s hoping to start a family soon. In a December 13th interview with Angie Martinez on Power 105.1, she said she’s ready to settle down, get married, and have at least one baby, and she’s thinking about how to make it all work.

As for what was at the top of her list?

She explained she wanted to get married before having children. She emphasized wanting a relationship built on love, not obligation, and a commitment that wasn’t tied to the responsibility of raising a baby.
