YouTube Is Down for Thousands of Users (What Happened?)

Many users are currently experiencing problems with YouTube. While occasional technical issues are normal for any website, YouTube – the second most popular site on the internet after Google – is reporting a significant surge in problems as of November 11th, 2025. Users are encountering a range of issues.

Okay, so I was trying to watch some videos on YouTube and it was totally glitching out! I checked Downdetector, and it looks like over 6,000 other people were having the same problem – videos wouldn’t load, uploads were failing, and even when something did play, it was constantly stopping and starting. It’s a little better now, down to almost 5,000 reports, which hopefully means they’re fixing things. Still, it’s been super frustrating when you just want to relax and watch something!

What Happened & Why Was YouTube Down?

YouTube hasn’t officially said anything about the current problems, but occasional disruptions aren’t unusual for such a popular site. With over 100 million daily visitors, brief outages happen from time to time due to server issues. However, the scale of this issue – affecting thousands of users – is larger than normal. There’s nothing individual users can do to fix it themselves, although many people are still able to use YouTube, perhaps with slightly slower performance.

This isn’t the first time YouTube has had problems for many users. Last week, after YouTube cracked down on ad-blockers, numerous people couldn’t get onto the site, depending on the ad-blocker they were using, according to Tom’s Guide. It’s not yet known if that’s happening again now, but the current issues seem to be more about videos not playing or uploading, or the site being glitchy, rather than being unable to reach the YouTube homepage. Still, it might be helpful to try turning off your ad-blocker or using a different web browser to see if that fixes the problem.
