YouTuber Sagar Kundu Missing After Being Swept Away by Waterfall

A search is underway for missing YouTuber Sagar Kundu.

On August 23, a 22-year-old individual went to Duduma Waterfall in Odisha, India, together with friends to capture content. However, as stated by local officials on August 27 (as reported by The New Indian Express), he was tragically carried away by the powerful currents of the waterfall.

According to the report, Abhijit Behera mentioned that Kundu was pleading for help with joined palms. He discarded his camera and other gear, yet they couldn’t save him.

According to the local report, citing officials, Kundu disregarded multiple warnings from his companions and ventured near a well-known 574-foot waterfall that is frequently visited by tourists.

In an instant, my heart pounded as I witnessed an extraordinary event – a sudden surge, caused by the release of water from the majestic Machkund dam! As a devoted fan of such spectacles, I couldn’t help but capture it on video. The force was immense; it swept away poor Kundu and left us powerless to intervene as he was carried away by those relentless currents.” (The New Indian Express reported this account based on the police’s statement.)

According to reports, officers mentioned that both a disaster management squad and firefighters were searching for the person responsible for creating the content, but they have not yet managed to find him.

TopMob News has reached out to authorities in Odisha for comment but has not heard back.

In the ongoing pursuit for Kundu, Madhusudan Bhoi, the head of Machkund Police Station, has disclosed that some of his possessions have been discovered.

According to Bhoi, reported by The New Indian Express, we have managed to retrieve a bag filled with batteries and other gear that he discarded into the water just before being swept away. The rescue mission in this mountainous region has been difficult due to the steep and rocky landscape, as well as persistent rainfall.

As a result, rescue workers were seeking additional measures to help with the ongoing search.

According to reports, fire service officer Umesh Chandra Bagh has asked the Machkund dam officials to shut the reservoir’s gates. This action will lower the water level, making it easier for us to conduct our search operations when the water subsides.
