Please be aware that this article contains significant spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga! A few months ago, Gege Akutami launched a sequel manga, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, with illustrations by Yuji Iwasaki. Originally planned to run for six months and span three volumes, this short series began in September and quickly gained popularity. In just 17 chapters, Modulo has delved into character backgrounds and their importance to the story, while also starting the final conflicts. The manga won’t be around much longer, but before it ends, Modulo promises to reveal all its secrets.
The first manga volume came out in Japan on January 5, 2026. It includes seven chapters, plus extra artwork and bonus content for fans. An English version will be available in a few months. To celebrate the release, a special promotional video was shared on the official Shonen Jump YouTube channel, featuring voice actor Junya Enoki as the narrator. Narration has always been important in Jujutsu Kaisen, and this video suggests that the main character, Yuji Itadori, may also have a key narrative role in the new manga.
Yuji Itadori Is a Crucial Character in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

This story is set 68 years after the events of the Culling Game and introduces a new cast of characters. They must face a huge threat to the world of Jujutsu: the arrival of over 50,000 Simurians, an alien race with powers and cursed energy similar to sorcerers. These aliens are searching for a new home, and most of the original series’ heroes have either passed away or stopped actively fighting curses.
Yuji may not be the main character now, but he’s still incredibly important in the new story. Because of all the cursed objects he’s swallowed over the years, he stopped aging. This meant he had to watch his friends grow old and pass away, which devastated him and led him to isolate himself. Despite Jujutsu society’s efforts to find him and ask for his help, no one has been able to discover where he’s hidden himself.
Because Yuji is still alive, fans anticipate he’ll play a key role in the final battle. The manga has only shown him briefly, keeping his face hidden. Importantly, Yuji was the last person to see Yuta and Maki’s son before the child vanished. The story suggests Yuta and Maki had a plan, and their son’s departure shortly after Yuka’s birth – confirming she’d inherited a strong ability – seems connected to it.
