The Snyder-Verse sparked a lot of strong opinions, and people weren’t shy about sharing them. Regardless of whether you enjoyed Zack Snyder’s vision for Batman and the Justice League, it definitely made a lasting impact. Ben Affleck’s portrayal of a battle-worn and hardened Bruce Wayne was particularly memorable – a fresh take on the superhero that hadn’t been seen in movies before.
Affleck explained his vision for Bruce Wayne was an older, more damaged version of the character, which he explored in the first film. However, he realized it was too intense for some viewers – even his own son was frightened. This created a conflict, as the director wanted to continue with that darker tone, while the studio aimed to appeal to a younger audience.
He has a point. A major complaint about Snyder’s version of the story was its dark and realistic style. However, Affleck’s portrayal of the character was outstanding and genuinely improved the films.
Is There Hope For The Return of Snyder Or Affleck?
Fans who enjoyed Zack Snyder’s vision for the DC Universe are very dedicated, using the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse to express their hope that he’ll direct another DC film. While it’s unlikely he’ll return, it seems he’s currently sharing beautiful behind-the-scenes content and his personal reflections, which is a treat for fans. However, because James Gunn and Peter Safran, the heads of DC, are still exploring standalone stories outside the main universe, a return isn’t entirely impossible – anything could still happen.
James Gunn confirmed he was already aware of Zack Snyder’s comments regarding a possible return to the DC Universe, explaining Snyder had texted him about it. Gunn also added that Snyder had been very supportive during the whole situation. In a separate conversation, Ben Affleck shared his positive experience working on the Batman films, saying he thoroughly enjoyed making both The Batman and Batman v Superman.
