Affleck explained his vision for Bruce Wayne was an older, more damaged version of the character, which he explored in the first film. However, because James Gunn and Peter Safran, the heads of DC, are still exploring standalone stories outside the main universe, a return isn’t entirely impossible – anything could still happen.
James Gunn confirmed he was already aware of Zack Snyder’s comments regarding a possible return to the DC Universe, explaining Snyder had texted him about it. Gunn also added that Snyder had been very supportive during the whole situation. In a separate conversation, Ben Affleck shared his positive experience working on the Batman films, saying he thoroughly enjoyed making both The Batman and Batman v Superman.
