The streaming platform and Snyder have grand ambitions for the Rebel Moon Universe, aiming to explore anime, video games, and comic books. The comic book series titled “Rebel Moon: Nemesis” is inspired by a narrative created by Zack Snyder and scripted by Gail Simone, with illustrations by Federico Bertoni. This prequel series from Titan Comics delves into the backstory of Nemesis, portrayed by Doona Bae in “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire” and “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver”. Titan Comics characterizes Rebel Moon: Nemesis as an exciting and tough story that resembles a vengeful western, with Nemesis encountering Imperium soldiers who massacred her family, leading to her transformation into the blade-wielding heroine depicted in “Rebel Moon”.
Gail Simone expressed that it seemed like fate was guiding the events leading up to her writing Nemesis from ‘Rebel Moon.’ She and her family were deeply engrossed in the movie when she became captivated by Nemesis. She admired her toughness, as well as how she handled grief and recognized it in others. In fact, she confided in her family that she would love to write for this character someday. As if by some cosmic coincidence, she received a message from Zack about the opportunity to pen Nemesis’s story. Gail couldn’t resist the call of destiny; Nemesis is an electrifying character who truly stands out on both the page and screen, and writing for her was an unforgettable experience.

Regarding the progress of “Rebel Moon” part 3, unfortunate news surfaced in May from co-writer Kurt Johnstad. It seems that work on any further projects has come to a halt. In an interview for the “I Minutemen” podcast, Johnstad shared that there were comprehensive storylines for up to six movies and a carefully designed universe by Snyder. But he stated it would take nothing short of a divine intervention to revisit the world of “Rebel Moon” following the poor reception of the initial two films. However, it’s worth noting that for Netflix subscribers, there is the exclusive “Rebel Moon” Blood Line video game available.
