Zara Larsson Reveals If She Really Almost Joined Fifth Harmony

Zara Larsson is telling it like it is.

Following speculation that Zara Larsson was considered to join Fifth Harmony after Camila Cabello left in 2016, she clarified the situation and confirmed the rumors were untrue.

During a March 12th interview at the Spotify Live Room, Zara told TomĂĄs Mier she prefers to work alone. “I don’t do groups,” she explained, “I would never be in a group.”

She added, “It wasn’t like that.”

The 28-year-old has always loved the girl group, and previously toured with them as part of Cher Lloyd’s 2014 tour. However, she also understands her own ambition and desire to be the center of attention.

Zara shared her love for girl groups, saying, “I’m really into them!” She believes they’re making a strong comeback and joked that if she were in one, she’d definitely be the lead singer.

“I love a girl group,” she continued. “I just couldn’t take not singing lead all the time.”

Despite not initially intending to tour with Fifth Harmony, the singer of “Never Forget You” remembers their time together fondly.

She fondly remembered the tour, saying it created memories she’d cherish forever. It was a really special and fun time in her life.

Fifth Harmony became famous after being formed on the second season of The X Factor U.S. in 2012. The group went on to create popular pop songs like “Work From Home” and “Worth It”.

Camila explained that she left the group after four years because she wanted to focus on writing and performing her own songs.

I discovered my love for writing, and it eventually led me to songwriting,” the 29-year-old explained on the Call Her Daddy podcast last year. “I initially thought I might write songs for other artists, but I realized I wanted to perform them myself.”

She explained that she began to feel disconnected from the group’s goals. While they remained enthusiastic, she realized she was no longer happy or fulfilled, and felt it was time to move on.

Fans have been hoping for a reunion of the group ever since they broke up in 2018, and their wish came true last August. Ally, Normani, Lauren, and Dinah surprised everyone by performing their popular song “Worth It” at a Jonas Brothers concert in Dallas.

Even though Camila Cabello didn’t perform with Fifth Harmony when they reunited, she showed her support by leaving a comment of four heart emojis on the band’s Instagram post about the performance.
