Zayn Malik Apologizes to Fans During First Vegas Residency Concert

Zayn Malik was ready to give the best show ever despite feeling under the weather. 

Former One Direction member Harry Styles began his series of seven concerts at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas on January 20th, and apologized to the audience while performing despite having a sinus infection.

Zayn apologized to the crowd during the show, explaining he hadn’t been feeling well for the past couple of weeks. He mentioned he had a sinus infection and a dry throat, according to a video from TopMob News.

Overjoyed to finally be there, the 33-year-old exclaimed, “We made it! Everything’s still on, and we’re going to have an amazing night!”

Determined to deliver a great show, the singer of “PillowTalk” got the audience involved by encouraging them to sing along.

“So, if you want to sing as loud as you want to sing,” he said. “Please do that.” 

Zayn’s recent residency was his first time performing live since his 2024 ‘Stairway to the Sky’ tour, which he had to cut short due to food poisoning.

Zayn shared on Instagram that he had to cancel his Mexico City performance. He explained that he’d been feeling unwell since that morning and, despite his best efforts, wasn’t physically able to perform.

He apologized for having to cancel, explaining that he truly values the support and enthusiasm of his fans. He was heartbroken to miss being with them and thanked them for their understanding, sending them all his love.

Six months later, Zayn – who has a 5-year-old daughter named Khai with his ex-partner, Gigi Hadid – announced he’d be performing again. He hinted that this is just the start of an exciting year for the singer of “Vibez,” telling Variety that the shows are “the beginning of a massive year” as he prepares for what’s next in his career.

Before performing on the first night—a set featuring songs from his four solo albums and some brand new tracks—Zayn gave fans a peek at his rehearsals.

I was so excited when I saw his latest post! He shared a video of him rehearsing with the band – and get this, he was running through the song while holding a teacup! He captioned it with a simple “see you tonight,” and honestly, it just made me even more hyped for the show. It’s little things like that which show his personality and make him so great.

In 2014, the band’s Where We Are Tour earned more money than any other tour, surpassing those of popular artists like Justin Timberlake, The Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, and the joint tour by Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

In March 2015, Malik announced that he was leaving the band to launch his solo career.

Following the release of their 2015 album, Made in the A.M., One Direction—comprising Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson—announced they were taking a break with no set return date.

In 2016, Louis Tomlinson had a son named Freddie Reign. The following year, Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole welcomed their son, Bear Grey.

Back in 2020, rumors began swirling about a possible One Direction reunion when Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan all started following Zayn Malik again on X, which was then called Twitter.

I recently heard that Liam Payne shared they’ve been in touch a lot lately because they’re approaching the 10-year anniversary of the band.
