Zendaya is going to the chapel, but it’s unclear if she’s actually going to get married.
Fortunately, this situation isn’t related to Zendaya’s wedding plans with Tom Holland. Instead, the first trailer for her new movie, The Drama – a romantic comedy co-starring Robert Pattinson – was released on February 3rd. The trailer shows Zendaya and Pattinson playing a couple with a very troubled engagement.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the upcoming film, and the trailer reveals a really sweet and vulnerable moment. Zendaya’s character, Emma, confides in her friend – played by the wonderful Alana Haim – that her fiancé, Charlie (played by Robert), is actually her first serious relationship, period. It’s a really touching detail that adds a lot of depth to her character!
“So, Charlie is your first love?” Alana’s character asks her. “Or crush?”
To which Zendaya’s character responds. “Both? What, is that insane?”
Which leads Alana’s character to deadpan, “At 30?”
Zendaya’s character is initially endearing in her innocence, but the trailer hints at a darker side when she shares what she considers her biggest mistake during a dinner with friends.
The trailer doesn’t reveal what her character says, but the strong reactions from everyone suggest it’s something truly awful.
As Emma’s friend yells across the table, “Are you serious? Emma, what the f–k!”
Something Emma confessed has clearly caused problems between her and Charlie, and it’s happened just a week before their wedding.
In one scene, Emma tells Charlie to stop dwelling on something. Charlie replies, frustrated, “How can I not think about it? I’m thinking about it right now!”

Eventually, even one of Emma’s friends admits their friendship is strained, questioning Charlie about Emma by asking, “How can you possibly trust her?”
In one poignant moment, Charlie removes the line “You’re the kindest person I’ve ever met” from his wedding vows, subtly revealing that his own emotions have also shifted.
In the end, we see Emma in a wedding dress, but she’s clearly been drinking straight from the bottle. At the same time, Robert’s character is shown in a blood-soaked tuxedo.
Even though Robert and Zendaya sometimes showed tension in their scenes, they had great chemistry while filming, both on the set of their current projects and upcoming movies like The Odyssey and Dune: Messiah.
He told GQ that working with her on their upcoming three films, scheduled for release in 2026, has been wonderful. He praised her talent, saying he really enjoys working with her and that she gives an amazing performance in The Drama and all of their projects together.
The Drama hits theaters April 3. Keep reading for more upcoming releases to add to your calendar…
