Zoe Saldaña Reveals Why Her Kids Haven’t Seen the Avatar Films

Zoe Saldaña’s kids won’t be visiting Pandora anytime soon. 

Zoe Saldaña, known for her role in Avatar, revealed that her sons – 11-year-old twins Cy and Bowie, and 8-year-old Zen – haven’t seen any of the Avatar movies yet, and she has a perfectly good explanation.

Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 1st, the 47-year-old told Will Marfuggi of TopMob News that he wants his sons to see Avatar only when they feel fully prepared. He described them as sensitive and strong, explaining that they are resilient but prefer to take their time, and he supports their approach.

Her sons are too young to see the movie Avatar right now, but she confessed they love Adam Sandler films, even though some of them aren’t really suitable for 11-year-olds.

But they have dabbled in some of mom’s other work.

Zoe mentioned that someone they know has watched one of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. That person is now getting into the Transformers films because they really like Transformers.

Her kids made it clear they’ll tell her when they’re up for watching the Avatar movies. She explained that her older children said, “We’ll be ready for Avatar in about a year, we promise!” and she happily agreed.

However, there’s one award her sons aren’t allowed to touch: the Oscar she won for her performance in Emilia Pérez.

As for whether her sons have gotten their hands on her award? Not a chance. 

“Not yet,” she said. “It’s brand new, and I’m not allowing anyone to handle it right now. I’m being really careful with it.”

Even though her children are too young to watch most of Zoe’s projects, they still admire what their mom does.

At the premiere of Elio in June, Cy and Bowie shared how proud they are of their mom and everything she’s accomplished.
