Zooey Deschanel talked about how her fiancé, Jonathan Scott, gets along with her ex-husband, Jacob Pechenik. They share two children together: a 10-year-old daughter named Elsie and an 8-year-old son named Charlie.

Zooey shared on the December 16th episode of Call Her Daddy that she thinks her kids’ father is a wonderful dad, and she always wants to be supportive of his parenting.

The 45-year-old revealed she’s in a really good place with her ex-husband, Jonathan, and his partner, Jacob—whom she married in 2015 and divorced in 2020. She believes keeping a strong relationship with them has been essential for her children’s well-being, and they even have a group chat together.

My children do best when they feel loved and supported by everyone in our group,” she said. “We spend time together, like going on trips, and we’ve supported each other through many challenges.

The actress from 500 Days of Summer shared what has helped her and Jacob maintain a positive co-parenting relationship after their split.

She advised letting go of any anger, admitting it might sound hard but is actually quite simple. Her main concern was the children’s happiness and well-being.

She said she respects his perspective as a parent, even though they don’t always agree. He, in turn, respects her opinions.

Although everyone is getting along well as a new blended family, Zooey mentioned she was very cautious when she first introduced her children to Jonathan, whom she started dating in 2019.

I didn’t want the kids to form a bond with someone who wouldn’t be around long-term, so we created a careful process for introducing partners. We made sure it was a serious decision before letting anyone meet the children.

Although everyone is getting along well as a blended family, Zooey mentioned she was very cautious when she introduced Jonathan, whom she started dating in 2019, to her kids.
