Zootopia 2: Disney Shares First Look At 2 More Famous Singers Joining Shakira (Photo)

Disney has given fans a first glimpse of two famous singers who will be part of the Zootopia 2 cast, along with returning star Shakira. Shakira, along with more than a dozen other actors, is reprising her role as the popular character Gazelle in the sequel. Disney is aiming to make the highly awaited follow-up even bigger, and is adding these well-known pop musicians to the cast alongside the Colombian Grammy winner.

Jared Bush, Chief Creative Officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios, has announced that Ed Sheeran, a Grammy-winning singer, and Blake Slatkin, a Grammy-winning music producer, will both appear in Zootopia 2. He shared a photo on X confirming their roles, as well as the return of Shakira as Gazelle. All three artists contributed to the songwriting for the film’s main song, titled “Zoo.” Bush included the following caption with the image:

We’re thrilled to share that the entire songwriting team for ‘Zootopia 2’s’ hit song ‘Zoo’ – Shakira, Ed Sheeran, and Blake Slatkin – also appear as characters in the movie! You’re already familiar with Gazelle, but please welcome our two new sheep characters: Ed Shearin and Baalake Lambkin!

The two characters will be called “Ed Shearin” and “Baalake Lambkin,” using names inspired by sheep to fit their roles in the upcoming Disney movie. The image from the new film prominently features these characters, with one of them getting its wool cut off – seemingly at a salon:

Although we don’t yet know exactly what the two new characters will do in Zootopia 2, it’s probable they’ll be involved with music. This is because their character names share similarities with their real names. They might collaborate with, or even work for, Shakira’s character, Gazelle, who is established as the most famous pop star in the world of Zootopia.

Zootopia 2 will pick up where the 2016 film Zootopia left off, taking place nearly ten years later. Ginnifer Goodwin will return as Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, the police officers of Zootopia, as they investigate a new case. This mystery involves Ke Huy Quan’s character, Gary De’Snake, and delves into the hidden past of reptiles within the city. Zootopia 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 26, 2025.

Real-World Singers’ Take Over Zootopia 2

It’s common for successful singers to also become actors in movies and TV shows, like when Lady Gaga generated a lot of buzz with her role in Season 2 of Wednesday in 2025. Now, with Zootopia 2, everyone is wondering what parts Ed Sheeran and Ben Slatkin will have in the Disney sequel, which also features many other famous actors.

In the first Zootopia movie, Shakira mostly appeared as a supporting character, contributing some memorable pop songs and delivering a powerful speech about peace during a tense scene. She’s certain to provide at least one or two more popular songs in the sequel, but it’s still unclear how significant her role will be to the story as a whole.

As the release of Zootopia 2 nears – with just under two months to go – Disney is beginning to share more details about the movie, including updates on its main characters.

As Disney begins to feature more of the soundtrack from Zootopia 2 in its advertising, audiences will likely get a better idea of the contributions Shakira, Sheeran, and Slatkin are making to the film’s narrative.
