Released as the first major film of the 2025 holiday season, Zootopia 2 is already a huge success. In just five days, the Disney sequel has earned over $500 million worldwide, receiving strong reviews and audience scores comparable to the original Zootopia. Beyond box office numbers, the movie is also generating a lot of excitement online, with clips, memes, and discussions trending on social media.
Thanks to a Disney fan on Twitter, a fun fact about Zootopia 2 recently came to light. The fan shared how a specific line from the movie was particularly memorable, and Jared Bush – one of the film’s directors and the screenwriter – responded with a surprising reveal: that iconic line wasn’t actually written in his script! It was improvised by one of the voice actors.
Idris Elba Improvised Zootopia 2‘s Best Line

Idris Elba voices Chief Bogo in Disney’s Zootopia series. Bogo is an African buffalo and the head of the Zootopia Police Department. In the sequel, a key storyline revolves around Bogo’s frustration with his officers, Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) and Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), after their actions cause problems for the department—and for him personally. At one point, exasperated with Nick, Bogo jokingly calls him an “orange dog.” This unexpected and funny line caused a lot of laughter in my movie theater, and it seems many other audiences reacted the same way.
Twitter user Jessica shared that one of her favorite moments in Zootopia 2 was when Chief Bogo playfully called Nick “orange dog,” saying it made her laugh a lot. She also believes the movie is highly rewatchable, with jokes and references coming quickly and consistently landing well.
Jared Bush saw the comment and explained that Idris Elba spontaneously came up with the line ‘Orange Dog’ while recording. The team loved it immediately and decided to include it in the film.
People online were highly amused by a recent discovery about the movie. Fans pointed out humorous details, like the fact that the characters ‘canines’ and ‘foxes’ aren’t closely related, and were surprised to learn that the character Bogo isn’t actually a water buffalo. Many also highlighted other funny lines delivered by the actor who voiced Bogo, including his threat to a disobedient character that he’d ensure a difficult life to match his difficult upbringing.
