Despite the holiday season and the approach of 2026, game developers are still announcing delays. IO Interactive announced on Tuesday that their new James Bond game, 007 First Light, will be released later than originally planned. Originally set for March 27, 2026, the game will now launch on May 27, 2026. According to game director Hakan Abrak, this extra time will allow the team to polish and improve the game, ensuring a high-quality experience for players at launch. The game is currently playable from start to finish.
An important update regarding the release date of 007 First Light.

Grand Theft Auto exits, James Bond enters

The delay of 007 First Light now places its release close to the new launch date of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 6, which was previously scheduled for an earlier release. This shift might give IO Interactive more confidence in taking extra time to refine their James Bond game.
I’m happy to wait a few more months for a polished experience. Early gameplay footage shows 007 First Light building on the foundation of IO Interactive’s Hitman series, but with a larger scope focused on espionage and action.
The game will, of course, feature an Aston Martin equipped with weapons for Bond to use during chases.
007 First Light will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Xbox players can also enjoy the game on both their consoles and PCs with Xbox Play Anywhere.

I’m really excited about 007 First Light after seeing what they’ve revealed! I’m especially curious to see how they’ll reimagine James Bond this time around. What are *you* hoping to see in the new movie? Let’s chat in the comments!
