IO Interactive just dropped a new trailer for their upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, and revealed that Lenny Kravitz will be playing the villain, Bawma.
Lenny Kravitz said he was thrilled to contribute to the long-running Bond video game series with a new character named Bawma. He described Bawma as a compelling and unpredictable figure – dangerous, yet with a good heart and clear motivations. Kravitz emphasized that Bawma isn’t simply powerful, but constantly struggles to maintain his strength, and he felt it was exciting to bring that dynamic into the world of James Bond.
IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak praised Lenny’s performance in 007 First Light, saying he brings a unique and captivating presence to the role of Bawma. Abrak explained that Lenny perfectly embodies the character – a powerful figure who inspires both fear and respect – and will significantly influence Bond’s experiences as a spy.
Here are the latest details:
Lenny Kravitz, the Grammy-winning musician, is joining the cast of the new James Bond video game, 007 First Light. He’ll play The Pirate King Bawma, the charming but unpredictable head of a dangerous arms dealing operation. This marks the first time Kravitz has lent both his appearance and voice to a video game character. Bawma will be a complex figure, shifting between helping and hindering Bond throughout the game.
A new trailer at The Game Awards revealed the Pirate King Bawma holding James Bond and his MI6 mentor, John Greenway, in a dangerous predicament, signaling his intent to eliminate any opposition. Lenny Kravitz portrays Bawma, providing both the voice and appearance for his first significant video game role. Bawma leads Aleph, a large illegal arms network spanning the Western hemisphere. He built his empire by the age of 17, starting with a ship graveyard in Mauritania that became the base of his operations.
IO Interactive has announced a special Collector’s Edition of the upcoming 007 First Light game. It’s available for pre-order now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC for $199.99, €199.99, or £169.99. This edition includes the complete game, all the content from the Deluxe Edition, an exclusive Obsidian Gold Suit, a full-size replica of the mask, a certificate of authenticity, and a magnetic Steel Case.
The game 007 First Light will be released on March 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (through Steam and the Epic Games Store).
