Although Season 5 is already in production, the show is still adding cast members. Nestor Carbonell has joined the Paramount+ series in an important supporting role.
Javier Carbonell will appear in Season 5 of Mayor of Kingstown as Enrique Molina, a powerful figure who arrives in Kingstown seeking justice for a missing family member.
Hiroyuki Sanada, known professionally as Carbonell, has appeared in many popular TV shows, including leading roles in series like Lost, Bates Motel, The Morning Show, and Ringer. He recently won a Primetime Emmy Award for his guest appearance on the FX series Shōgun. He’s also been in several films, such as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, The Rip, and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.
Carbonell will join Jeremy Renner and the rest of the cast – including Edie Falco, Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, David Morse, Necar Zadegan, Nichole Galicia, and Lennie James – for the fifth and last season of the show.
Mayor of Kingstown Is Ending After 5 Seasons
Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon created Mayor of Kingstown. It was the first series they made for Paramount+ that wasn’t part of the popular Yellowstone universe. However, unlike Yellowstone, it didn’t immediately win over critics.
The show initially received mostly negative reviews for its first two seasons. However, opinions started to turn around with Season 3, and the latest season, Season 4, earned a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, though based on a small number of just five reviews.
Following Tracy’s murder and the retaliation from Mike (Renner) and Kyle (Handley), FBI agent Russell Hardy (Morse) comes to Kingstown looking for Callahan, who is considered a fugitive. As a dedicated law enforcement officer, Agent Hardy poses a threat to expose Mike’s hidden past and potentially upset the delicate power structure within Kingstown. The final season is currently being filmed in Pittsburg, PA.
The first four seasons of Mayor of Kingstown are available to stream on Paramount+.
