It followed Alicia Florrick, played by Julianna Margulies, and her life completely turned upside down when her husband, a state’s attorney, got caught up in a scandal. When The Good Fight came along as a spin-off, I was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to the original, but it still managed to capture that same magic that made The Good Wife so great.
After her husband falls from grace and is imprisoned, Alicia Florrick returns to her career as a lawyer to provide for her family. The show, The Good Wife, and its talented supporting cast – including Matt Czuchry, Archie Panjabi, Christine Baranski, and Alan Cumming – gained a devoted following among both viewers and critics, becoming a beloved classic.
What Is The Good Fight About?

The series opens with Lockhart devastated after losing both her money and her job due to a complicated financial scheme. Similar to Alicia Florrick at the start of The Good Wife, she’s at a difficult point in her life and has to take a job at a Chicago law firm because she has no other financial options.
How The Good Fight Was Different From The Good Wife
One of the main differences between The Good Fight and The Good Wife was how they were released. Because The Good Fight aired on the streaming service CBS All Access, it could tackle more adult topics and storylines. The show also benefited from a more diverse group of supporting characters thanks to its new setting.
Unlike its original series, The Good Fight spent less time on the main character’s romantic relationships and gave more attention to the supporting cast. It was also more current and willing to take risks with its storytelling. Compared to The Good Wife, The Good Fight felt less realistic and didn’t shy away from tackling real-world political issues.
The Good Fight Is A Rare Example Of A TV Spinoff That Works

It’s always hard to follow a successful show, and even harder to do so without simply repeating old ideas. Luckily, The Good Fight managed to be a fantastic sequel to The Good Wife while still feeling fresh and original.
