10 Avengers Villains Who Could Totally Defeat The Justice League

The Justice League is a superhero team inspired by the earlier Justice Society, uniting the most powerful heroes of their time to fight incredibly dangerous villains across multiple universes. They’ve battled some of the most formidable foes imaginable – threats not just to Earth, but to all of existence. Compared to Marvel’s Avengers, the Justice League deals with challenges of a much greater scale. Many of the villains the Avengers face wouldn’t even be a match for the Justice League, and the League’s enemies would be terrifying to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The Avengers have some truly impressive villains, and though most aren’t as powerful as those faced by the Justice League, a few definitely are. These particularly strong Avengers villains could overwhelm the Justice League, pushing the famous superhero team to their absolute limits with their incredible powers and skills. Here are ten who could realistically win.

10) Apocalypse Twins

The Avengers consistently delivered fantastic stories throughout the 2010s. One standout run featured the Avengers Unity Squad facing off against the Apocalypse Twins – the children of powerful mutants Archangel and Pestilence, trained by the time-traveling Kang. These villains were incredibly dangerous, possessing time-based powers, nearly indestructible armor derived from Celestial technology, and Jarnbjorn, a unique axe capable of piercing even the strongest cosmic defenses. Highly skilled strategists, they could even accelerate enemies into dust with their powers. The Avengers struggled against them, constantly finding themselves on the defensive and unable to mount a successful offense until it was too late.

9) The Celestials

Cosmic Marvel consistently delivers incredible stories with truly formidable villains, and the Celestials are among the most powerful. Their armor was previously thought to be unbreakable by anyone less than a god – a significant challenge for even the mighty Justice League. Beyond their incredible durability, the Celestials are essentially living energy capable of defying the laws of physics and manipulating the universe’s core forces, making them virtually unstoppable opponents.

8) The High Evolutionary

The High Evolutionary is a surprisingly powerful and dangerous villain, having reached the peak of human development and possessing almost god-like abilities. He’s notorious for creating incredibly strong allies and operates on a scale that the Justice League isn’t accustomed to. While he isn’t physically stronger or faster than heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, or the Flash, the League simply lacks experience fighting someone with his unique skillset – the ability to rapidly evolve or devolve opponents. The Avengers have fought him many times and understand his tactics, but the High Evolutionary might only need one victory against the League to cause significant damage.

7) The Beyonder

The Beyonder is a truly formidable villain – one of the few capable of defeating the Justice League. Originating from a race of beings with the power to obliterate existence itself, he’s far beyond even god-like strength. He presents the kind of universal-level threat the League typically faces, making him a more dangerous opponent than he would be for the Avengers. The Justice League would be hard-pressed to defeat him through force, and without knowledge of any weaknesses, they’d be at a complete disadvantage. Their only chance lies in the unlikely scenario of him falling in love with Wonder Woman; otherwise, he’d easily overwhelm them in a fight.

6) Dormammu

Dormammu starts with a significant edge against the Justice League. His immense magical power can actually harm Superman, which would drastically change the fight. As a powerful magical being himself, he could potentially unravel the magic that gives Wonder Woman her abilities. He also commands an endless army from his own dimension and possesses nearly limitless magical energy. The League doesn’t consistently include a dedicated magic user, and even DC’s magical heroes wouldn’t know anything about Dormammu or how to counter his powers, giving him the upper hand he needs to secure victory.

5) Absorbing Man

Absorbing Man often appears as a strong but easily defeated villain, and that’s largely true. He gained the ability to absorb the properties of anything he touches from Loki, originally as a weapon against Thor. However, his lack of intelligence has often allowed opponents to overcome him. Despite this, his powers are incredibly powerful. He can transform into anything, which would make him a formidable opponent against the Justice League. He could potentially win against them through a combination of his abilities and luck. In several alternate timelines, he’s even managed to defeat the Avengers, and given his immense power, he could likely do the same to the Justice League.

4) Ultron

Ultron isn’t on the same power level as heroes like Superman or the Flash. While he lacks their raw strength and speed, he’s incredibly intelligent and virtually indestructible thanks to his adamantium body. This combination of intelligence and durability is what will allow him to win against the Justice League. The League hasn’t faced an enemy built from adamantium before, and they’ve struggled against opponents as cunning as Ultron. He’s capable of both identifying and exploiting the League’s weaknesses, easily defeating their weaker members while developing strategies to overcome even the most powerful heroes.

3) Kang the Conqueror

Kang the Conqueror is widely considered the most formidable time traveler in the Marvel Universe. He’s dedicated his life to becoming the ultimate warrior, meticulously studying his opponents – and even potential opponents – to understand their strengths and weaknesses. Though he could easily eliminate his enemies by traveling back in time, Kang prefers to confront them directly, utilizing a combination of skill and advanced technology gathered from throughout history. His mastery of time travel allows him to identify and exploit any vulnerability in his enemies. Kang is focused on victory at all costs, and the League would be at a significant disadvantage against this powerful and cunning villain.

2) Loki

Loki, known as the God of Stories, has taken on many forms and is one of the most powerful and dangerous beings in the Marvel Universe. While they’ve changed a lot and aren’t simply a villain anymore, that doesn’t make them any less of a threat – in fact, quite the opposite is true. Loki’s skill with magic and trickery would be enough to overcome any physical disadvantages against even the strongest members of the Justice League. Batman would certainly put up a fight, but Loki is a more cunning trickster, meaning even the Dark Knight couldn’t win. Ultimately, despite the League’s best efforts, they would be defeated by the God of Stories’ immense power.

1) Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom is a complex villain, but a villain he remains. As the ruler of Latveria, he considers himself the most brilliant person alive, and would automatically see the Justice League as enemies simply because he believes no one is his equal. What makes Victor Von Doom so dangerous is not just his incredible intelligence, but also his vast arsenal. He’s more strategically minded than Batman, and his armor can absorb the energy of even the most powerful beings. He could even steal the powers of heroes like the Flash and Superman, neutralizing the League’s strongest members and becoming an even greater threat. Even without his technology, his mastery of magic would be enough to defeat each member of the team one by one, ultimately leaving no one capable of opposing him.
