Loki’s storyline differs significantly from other characters within the Marvel Universe. Initially, he is portrayed as Thor’s envious sibling, constantly seeking approval from their father. However, when he realizes his attempts are futile, the trickster god departs Asgard and enters into an agreement with Thanos. Again, Loki suffers defeat, landing in Asgardian prison until the Dark Elves assault. The demise of his mother, Frigga, prompts a change in him, leading him to collaborate with his brother in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok. Regrettably, Loki’s transformation into a more noble character is short-lived as Thanos reappears and eliminates his former ally.
In the initial scenario, it appeared Loki’s life was terminated, but the Avengers’ time-travel operation granted him another opportunity. Utilizing the Tesseract, he managed his escape from New York. Subsequently, Loki found himself at the Time Variance Authority (TVA) in his Disney+ series, where he encounters Mobius. Together, they work towards eliminating a dangerous variant. Here are our top 10 favorite moments from Loki that continue to astound us.
1) A Little God in a Giant Multiverse
Upon arriving at the TVA, Loki’s initial instinct is to flee since he doesn’t seem to fit in their prison system. As he navigates through this peculiar office, he unexpectedly finds a collection of Infinity Stones tucked away in a desk drawer. The realization that items he had tirelessly pursued could be reduced to mere paperweights leaves Loki, the antagonist, deeply stunned.
2) Loki’s True Fate
Mobius finds it challenging to make Loki comprehend the severity of the situation, so he decides to let a history lesson take its course. As such, Loki observes various events from his original self’s life unfold, including his death at the hands of Thanos. Watching an alternate version of himself die alters Loki’s perspective, as he becomes determined to avoid meeting a similar end.
3) Classic Loki’s Glorious Purpose
Following the chaos at the TVA, Loki finds himself in the Void – a barren landscape marking the end of all time. There, he encounters alternate versions of himself who instruct him on surviving in this desolate realm. Yet, Loki is unwilling to idle away his time. Instead, he persuades other Asgardians to join forces with him and pursue his objective. True to form, Loki doesn’t hold back, employing his magical prowess to rebuild Asgard and divert Alioth’s attention.
4) Loki’s Trip to Pompeii With Mobius
In simpler terms, TVA (Time Variance Authority) is having trouble tracking down a particular version of Loki who keeps slipping away from them. As a result, Mobius introduces a new Loki to the mix. This new Loki discovers that his counterpart might be concealed within catastrophic events like Pompeii’s eruption, leading to a visit there. During this visit, Mobius observes as Loki becomes increasingly unstable amidst the chaos caused by a volcanic eruption and the people trying to escape it.
5) Sylvie Kills He Who Remains
When Loki and Sylvie ultimately arrive at the Citadel beyond Time’s End, they encounter He Who Remains, a Kang variant who maintains control over all his malevolent counterparts by annihilating timelines. However, Sylvie disregards his purpose due to her belief that her life was stolen, leading her to slay her foe even as Loki pleads with her to pause and rethink her actions.
6) Victor Timely Turns Into Spaghetti
In his absence, the multiverse begins its rapid expansion, potentially threatening all existence. Loki and his companions enlist an alternate Kang to assist, but their progress is disrupted when Victor Timely abruptly departs to mend the multiverse’s loom. However, before they can complete their task, Timely unexpectedly explodes, forcing our heroes to regroup and rethink their strategy.
7) Loki Learns How to Control His Time-Slipping
In the second season of Loki, the danger to the multiverse remains paramount, yet the Trickster God himself is grappling with a personal predicament. He’s been unable to halt his time-traveling escapades, causing him to abruptly appear at various points in history. However, towards the end of the season, he finally discovers how to manage this power, ensuring the safety of all those dear to him.
8) Loki Uses His Magic Again
In the beginning of Season 2, Loki and Mobius pursue a renegade Time Variance Authority (TVA) agent disguised as an actor from the past. However, Hunter X-05 proves to be quite problematic for Mobius, leading Loki to take drastic measures and employ his magical abilities to trap the target. Notably, during this sequence, Loki’s distinctive horns are briefly visible in a shadow, hinting at his villainous past.
9) Mobius Stops and Smells the Roses
After the conflicts have subsided, Mobius finds himself a little melancholic. He jumps to another timeline to observe an alternate version of himself, contentedly residing in the suburbs with his loved ones. This tender scene serves as a poignant reminder of Mobius’s personal growth and development as a character.
10) Loki Saves the Multiverse
The central deity also undergoes a remarkable transformation. Having given up everything, he assumes the role of maintaining the multiverse when the loom malfunctions. Seated on the throne at the End of Time, he comes to terms with his destiny: to safeguard everyone and everything, even if it means parting ways with his cherished friends forever.
