10 Best Stan Lee Superheroes Who Still Haven’t Appeared in the MCU

Stan Lee is a legendary figure in comic book history. As the driving creative force behind Marvel Comics for many years, his impact on the superhero genre is unmatched. Often the face of Marvel, Lee played a crucial role in the company’s rise to prominence. Throughout his career, he helped create some of Marvel’s most beloved heroes, and his partnerships with artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko brought iconic characters and stories to life.

Stan Lee created a huge number of memorable characters, and it’s surprising how many great Marvel heroes haven’t made it to the big screen yet. Most of his most famous characters are already in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but plenty of others deserve a chance to shine in a movie. While they might not be as popular as Spider-Man, Iron Man, or the Hulk, these heroes still deserve their moment.

10) Doctor Druid

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of powerful magic users, but there’s still potential for new mystical characters. Doctor Druid (originally known as Doctor Droom) is a supernatural monster hunter with both magical powers and the ability to hypnotize people. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, he first appeared in comics in 1961 as Doctor Droom, and later as Doctor Druid in 1976. Throughout his comic book history, he’s fought alongside famous superhero teams like the Avengers and the Defenders.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to explore magic, there’s a good chance we’ll see Doctor Druid appear. While he shares some similarities with Doctor Strange, highlighting the unique ways he uses magic could be a compelling way to introduce him. He’s a supernatural hero from Marvel who hasn’t yet made an appearance in the MCU, but that could change soon.

9) Mimic

The X-Men have a rich and fascinating history filled with memorable characters. One often underestimated hero is Mimic, who possesses a great deal of unrealized power. Created by Stan Lee and Werner Roth, Mimic debuted in 1966 and holds the distinction of being the first new member to join the original X-Men team at Marvel Comics.

Mimic has the unique ability to copy other people’s powers, which could make him a very strong hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though he’s not one of the most popular X-Men, his wide range of copied abilities makes him a surprisingly valuable character. Because he was one of the original X-Men, Mimic could appear in the MCU once Marvel officially introduces mutants.

8) Atlas (Erik Josten)

Erik Josten, a character in Marvel Comics, is better known as a villain than a hero. While he’s mostly been portrayed as a bad guy, he briefly joined the heroic team known as the Thunderbolts, going by the name Atlas. First appearing in 1965, created by Stan Lee and Don Heck, it wasn’t until over thirty years later that he started acting like a hero.

Although he’s become much more powerful over time, his core abilities still rely on Pym particles and ionic energy. Despite a past as a villain, he’s a fascinating and complicated character with a long history in Marvel comics. He hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, but with so many related characters now appearing, it’s not entirely out of the question.

7) Karnak

The TV show Inhumans deserves a second chance, particularly because its connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is unclear. Once thought to be a core part of the MCU, it now feels disconnected, and the characters introduced in the show aren’t reliably considered part of the larger story.

Karnak is a character from Marvel Comics, first appearing in 1965 and created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. As one of the Inhumans, his backstory has changed over the years, but he’s been a key figure in many Marvel stories and even appeared in the Inhumans TV series. Many fans believe he’s a compelling character who deserves a more significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, either by being officially included in the main timeline or having his previous appearances recognized as official canon.

6) Balder the Brave

Though characters like Thor and Loki are now key players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not all of their comic book counterparts have appeared on screen. A good example is Balder the Brave, who is Thor and Loki’s brother in the comics, but has only been mentioned briefly and never actually shown in the movies or TV shows. While he isn’t as strong as Thor, Balder is still a compelling character.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962, the Marvel Comics character Balder is based on the Norse god of the same name. As the son of Odin, he’s a potentially powerful hero for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, despite his potential, Balder hasn’t appeared in any MCU films and may never make it to the screen.

5) Crystal

Crystal is a powerful character from the Marvel universe who first appeared in comics in 1965. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, she’s known for her ability to control earth, water, fire, and air. While she’s a key member of the Inhumans, she’s also worked with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. She was also featured in the short-lived Inhumans TV series.

While she’s been brought to life in live-action adaptations, this character hasn’t officially appeared in the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, because of her ties to existing MCU teams and characters, a future appearance feels possible. As of now, she remains a fantastic creation by Stan Lee who hasn’t yet found a place in the MCU’s ongoing story.

4) Ka-Zar

Ka-Zar isn’t one of Marvel’s most famous heroes, but he’s a surprisingly cool character that many fans have forgotten about. First appearing in 1965’s The X-Men #10, this version of Ka-Zar—created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby—is heavily inspired by Tarzan. Born into English nobility, he was raised in the Savage Land by Zabu, a remarkably intelligent saber-toothed tiger who became his lifelong companion.

Ka-Zar has appeared in a few Marvel animated series, but he’s never been in a live-action movie or TV show. Marvel Studios briefly considered making a Ka-Zar story part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but those plans were ultimately dropped. This makes him one of Stan Lee’s memorable characters who hasn’t yet been featured in the franchise.

3) Ravage

Despite having his own comic book, Ravage 2099, in 1992, the character isn’t well-known today. Created by Stan Lee and Paul Ryan, Ravage emerged during a period when dystopian futures were becoming increasingly popular in comics. Designed specifically for this growing subgenre, he unfortunately never achieved the lasting success he could have.

It’s understandable that Ravage hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, given that he’s not a well-remembered character. Still, he’s a compelling figure with a unique story – a blend of cyberpunk themes and a tough, realistic edge that would translate well to film. It’s uncertain if Ravage will ever make the jump from the comics, but he’s another fantastic creation by Stan Lee who hasn’t yet been adapted for the screen.

2) Mar-Vell

While many interesting Avengers characters wouldn’t fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mar-Vell stands out as particularly disappointing. Created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan in 1967, he was the very first Captain Marvel. Although his death in 1982 was a huge shock to Marvel fans, it’s not the reason we haven’t seen him appear in MCU films.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe decided to reimagine the Captain Marvel story, introducing Carol Danvers as the first hero to take on that title. In the MCU, Mar-Vell is now portrayed as Danvers’ Kree mentor, suggesting the original Mar-Vell’s story won’t be adapted. While it’s disappointing that this iconic character likely won’t appear, Mar-Vell remains one of Stan Lee’s most memorable creations.

1) Rick Jones

Rick Jones is a surprisingly powerful member of the Avengers. Created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby as a friend of the Hulk, he became a supporting character for many famous Marvel heroes. Eventually, Rick Jones became a hero himself, gaining powers that made him far more capable than anyone realized.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe briefly hinted at the character Rick Jones with a quick Easter egg in the opening of The Incredible Hulk. It’s surprising he hasn’t appeared more prominently, given his ties to many existing heroes. Rick Jones is a significant character created by Stan Lee, and it’s looking increasingly unlikely he’ll ever be a part of the MCU.
