10 Biggest Movies & TV Coming to Streaming This Week

2026 promises to be an excellent year for movies and TV, and this week is especially exciting for fans of all kinds. All the major streaming services are adding great new content, including a highly anticipated addition to the Star Trek franchise, HBO’s critically acclaimed dark fantasy series, and a brand new mystery show from Agatha Christie.

Okay, so I was totally bummed when Stranger Things wrapped up – that finale definitely got people talking! If you’re like me and now have a serious sci-fi/fantasy-shaped hole in your viewing schedule, I’ve been hunting around for some new shows that might just hit the spot, and I’ve got a few recommendations.

1) Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal, Season 3

Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal is widely considered one of the greatest animated series ever made. The show relies more on visuals and action than dialogue, but still delivers a powerful story and emotional punch. It follows a caveman and a dinosaur who form an extraordinary bond as they struggle to survive in a harsh and constantly changing world. After a four-year wait, the third season recently premiered on HBO Max and has maintained a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

2) Veronica Mars Seasons 1-3

The first three seasons of the popular mystery show Veronica Mars are now available on Netflix. The series follows Veronica as she deals with the aftermath of her best friend’s murder and her father losing his job as a police officer. Determined to find answers, Veronica begins solving mysteries around her town, Neptune, all while trying to uncover the truth about what happened to Lilly Cane.

3) Fear Factor: House of Fear

If you watched TV in the early 2000s, you probably remember Fear Factor, the reality show where contestants bravely (or not so bravely!) faced their biggest fears for our amusement. Now, Fear Factor is back on Hulu, hosted by Johnny Knoxville of Jackass. This time, the show has a new twist: contestants are left in a secluded spot and have to live together while competing in challenges, performing stunts, and navigating social dynamics—all for a chance to win a grand prize.

4) Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Good news for Star Trek fans! The highly anticipated series Starfleet Academy is arriving on Paramount+ this week. The show follows a fresh class of cadets as they navigate the challenges of academy life, including intense competition, budding romances, and a dangerous new enemy that could jeopardize the entire Federation.

5) Southland Seasons 1-5

Good news for fans of police dramas: the first five seasons of Southland are now available on Netflix! The show follows a seasoned LAPD officer mentoring a new recruit, and explores the personal and professional lives of everyone in the department. It stars Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, and Regina King.

6) Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials

Get ready for a new mystery on Netflix from the master of crime, Agatha Christie! Her story, Seven Dials, is set in the glamorous world of a 1925 country house party where a playful joke takes a dark turn. When someone is murdered, Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, along with Lady Caterham and Superintendent Battle, must uncover the truth. The series features a stellar cast including Helena Bonham Carter, Martin Freeman, and Mia McKenna-Bruce, and promises to be one of the year’s best shows.

7) Bone Lake

Netflix has a new thriller called Bone Lake, featuring Maddie Hasson and Marco Pigossi. The movie follows a couple whose relaxing weekend at a remote lake house is disrupted when another couple unexpectedly arrives. Bone Lake blends suspenseful horror with dark humor, and critics seem to like it – it currently has an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a film you should consider checking out.

8) A Knight in the Making

Fans are eagerly anticipating A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, HBO’s latest series set in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, and many believe it’s their best yet. To satisfy that excitement, HBO is also releasing A Knight in the Making, a behind-the-scenes look at how the show was created. This documentary reveals the making of the series (which has already been renewed for a second season) and highlights what makes it unique compared to previous shows.

9) Love Through a Prism

The new anime series, Love Through a Prism, is now streaming on Netflix. It’s set in London in the early 1900s and follows Ichijoin Riri, a Japanese woman who dreams of becoming a successful painter. She attends a prestigious art school with a deal: if she doesn’t excel, she must return home to Japan. Unexpectedly, a competitive tension with Kit Church, the son of a wealthy nobleman, begins to blossom into a possible romance.

9) The Hunger Games Collection

All four Hunger Games movies are now available to stream on Peacock! If you’re looking for a thrilling sci-fi binge, this is a great opportunity. The series takes place in a future version of the United States called Panem, where the government forces children from each district to fight to the death in a televised competition. But as tensions rise, a rebellion begins to take shape.
