After witnessing the distress of his people on Titan, this antagonist swears to prevent such devastation from recurring and embarks on a quest to acquire the Infinity Stones. Initially, the mission appears straightforward, leading Thanos to delegate tasks to underlings like Loki and Ronan the Accuser. Yet, they meet with abysmal failures, compelling Thanos himself to intervene. As the gloves come off and the Infinity Gauntlet slips onto his wrist, the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe find themselves battling for survival as Thanos relentlessly pursues his objective.
At the conclusion of “Avengers: Infinity War,” all the necessary elements were set for the antagonist, allowing him to eliminate half of existence with a single finger snap. Lucky for him, he wasn’t in another comic book universe where he might not have fared as well. Here is a list of 10 DC characters who could potentially have defeated Thanos during “Infinity War.
1) Superman
In the third Avengers film, it’s actually Superman who demonstrates his immense power against Thanos, rather than relying on a powerful weapon like Thor and his Stormbreaker. Instead of wielding a giant axe, Superman delivers punishing blows to Thanos, causing his face to turn an unfamiliar shade of blue. Given that Superman is incredibly fast as well, it’s unlikely that Thanos would be able to get his hands on any Infinity Stone, let alone all six.
2) Batman
Although Batman might not win a physical fight against Thanos, he’s more than capable of outsmarting him. Once Batman discovers the threat that Thanos poses to the universe, he’ll undoubtedly find a strategy to secure all the Infinity Stones. Given his preparedness for situations like those with Superman, dealing with Thanos seems like an achievable task for him.
3) Wonder Woman
Among the villainous deities of the DC Universe, there’s one adversary they dread seeing approach: the fearless Wonder Woman. Not just a force to be reckoned with due to her formidable strength and exceptional combat abilities, Diana Prince possesses an unmatched tenacity that sets her apart from many heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Convinced that Thanos’ scheme is preposterous, Wonder Woman will go to great lengths to prevent him from even attempting his cosmic catastrophe.

Given that Shazam can match strength with Superman, Thanos should be cautious not to underestimate him, despite his youthful demeanor.
6) Supergirl
As a passionate DC Universe fan, I’ve witnessed instances where Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, outshines her cousin, Superman, in terms of strength. She’s not just stronger, but she carries an edge that sets her apart – a feisty determination that refuses to back down, even against formidable adversaries like Darkseid. When it comes to facing off with Thanos, he’ll quickly discover that Kryptonians are a race he might want to avoid after a fierce battle with Supergirl.
7) The Spectre
In the realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’m part of a group that holds immense power, yet we choose to stay silent when Thanos is planning to wipe out trillions. On the other hand, in the DC universe, if a villain dares to disrupt The Presence’s work, the strongest characters don’t look the other way. The Spectre, considered the god-like entity of the DC Universe, serves The Presence. If Thanos, even armed with the Infinity Gauntlet, crosses paths with The Spectre, his fate would be far from salvation.
8) Captain Atom
In the world of the Infinity Stones, power is what matters most, and there’s no one more capable of holding it than Captain Atom. Not only does he possess immense strength himself, but he can even challenge Superman when they face off in a fight according to the storyline.
In terms of handling the Infinity Stones, power is what truly counts. Nobody else seems more qualified for this task than Captain Atom. Furthermore, his own strength is remarkable, as he can even match Superman in combat when the script demands it.
9) Martian Manhunter
Although Martian Manhunter is part of the Justice League, he often takes a supporting role, allowing characters such as Superman and Batman to take center stage. However, don’t underestimate his power; he can match his teammates in terms of danger, and when facing off against Thanos, he demonstrates this clearly. His ability to change shape and become invisible will provide him an advantage, allowing him enough time to penetrate Thanos’ mind and disrupt it.
10) The Flash
In space, The Flash cannot breathe, preventing him from halting Thanos’ acquisition of the initial Infinity Stones. Once Thanos reaches Earth, the game changes as the villain will eventually be defeated. The Flash will swiftly secure the gems, using his speed to exhaust Thanos, and even if he fails initially, he can travel back in time to retry the mission.
