10 Marvel Heroes Who Need Their Own Ultimate Series Now!

For the past couple of years, Marvel’s fresh Ultimate Universe has been a huge success. With Jonathan Hickman’s revamp of Ultimate Spider-Man and Peach Momoko’s innovative reinterpretation of the X-Men in her manga-inspired work on Ultimate X-Men, it offers something for every fan. It’s hard to find fault with it, but there’s one issue: there aren’t enough titles in this lineup. Although we’ve had diverse versions of characters in secondary roles, some characters deserve their own dedicated series, which is what I’d like to discuss now – the Ultimate Universe is great, and we want more of it!

This list includes characters we believe would make great subjects for standalone Ultimate tales. Some of these characters have been featured in the Ultimate Universe or have already appeared, while others are new suggestions. Keep in mind that some of these characters may differ significantly from their counterparts in the main 616 universe and even their versions from 1610. It’s possible that a few of these ideas could become reality, and there’s a possibility that some might lead to bigger things. We hope these stories find their way into creation!

1) Daredevil

It’s surprising that Daredevil, one of Marvel’s most popular characters, hasn’t had a significant role in the Ultimate Universe yet. Although Matt Murdock has made an appearance as a priest, much like his ending in the Chip Zdarsky run, I don’t think he would embody the Man Without Fear in this universe. However, this doesn’t mean that the Daredevil mantle can’t be passed on.

For a unique take inspired by recent 616 developments, the concept of Elektra assuming the role of Daredevil, becoming the Woman Without Fear, isn’t entirely novel. But, if she were to be the sole Daredevil in universe 6160, this could form the basis for an outstanding Ultimate series.

In my vision for the storyline, Elektra would take center stage. Regardless, Matt (Daredevil) would remain a significant presence within the narrative. Whether he’s portrayed as her romantic interest or spiritual guide, it wouldn’t be wise to exclude them from each other. If this book ever comes to fruition, it could generate a massive response similar to Ultimate Spider-Man.

2) Hawkeye

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Charli Ramsey, introduced in “The Ultimates” by Deniz Camp, stepped into the role of Hawkeye under her own unique mantle. In their first appearance, Charli stumbled upon the Hawkeye costume in the trash and swiftly joined the Ultimates. Ever since then, they’ve become a beloved character among fans.

Recently, exciting news surfaced about an upcoming “Ultimate Hawkeye” one-shot, which is certainly progress in the right direction. However, in less than a year, Charli has displayed such rich personality and has solidified their place as a worthy successor to the name Hawkeye.

Given that The Maker has been imprisoned within his city, it remains uncertain how the Ultimates will fare once he is freed. If they succeed, they might embark on individual adventures, and among them, Hawkeye seems particularly suited for such a solo journey, be it in an extended series or a mini-series. Indeed, Hawkeye has certainly earned this opportunity.

3) Fantastic Four

In simpler terms, the eagerly anticipated and challenging book might be a fresh start for the Ultimate Fantastic Four. Although Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, and Ben Grimm are reported dead due to the Maker’s interference, Reed Richards, with his powers and intelligence, remains much like this universe’s Doom. If they manage to save the others, it could lead to a new edition of the Fantastic Four, or perhaps a different team might form. The outcome depends on what transpires when the Maker is set free.

For a hypothetical new team if Doom is the sole survivor, he might take charge. As for the rest, it’s plausible that some members of the Ultimates could join him, forming an unconventional version of the Fantastic Four. For instance, instead of Jim Hammond’s Human Torch being Johnny Storm, we might see Jim Hammond himself. Also, Lejori Zakaria’s She-Hulk and Hank Pym could be part of it too. The combinations are numerous, and whatever happens, the Ultimate Fantastic Four reunion would certainly be intriguing.

4) Blade

Let’s move on to our next character: the renowned Blade. He’s a name that frequently arises in discussions among comic book enthusiasts who believe he merits the ‘Ultimate’ treatment. One intriguing direction for Blade could be to depict him as a vampire hunter, targeting humans, much like the current version of Ultimate Wolverine. Alternatively, you could portray him as the source of all supernatural occurrences on Earth 6160, with Dracula being part of the Maker’s council.

As a die-hard fan, it’s high time we shine some long-overdue spotlight on the incredible character that is Blade! His recent books have been nothing short of phenomenal, leaving me wondering why he’s not more prominent in the mainstream 616 universe. Perhaps the Ultimate universe could serve as a launching pad for his rise to fame among even the most casual comic readers. But let’s be honest, a Blade series in the Ultimate Universe would be enjoyable no matter how it’s framed. All I ask is for more Blade stories – he’s an iconic character who deserves our attention!

5) Gwenpool

In the current state of the Ultimate Universe, Gwendolyn Poole doesn’t exist, but there’s room for her to join the scene. A mini-series akin to “Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion” could be created where Gwenpool gets transported to this new universe and finds herself bewildered because she hasn’t experienced this before. Given Gwen’s unique abilities and character, her presence in any Ultimate Universe series would guarantee a hilarious ride that would undoubtedly attract viewers. Adding characters like Kate Bishop or Jeff the Land Shark would make it an even more exciting adventure. This is something fans, especially Gwenpool enthusiasts, have been eagerly waiting for.

6) The Sentry

In recent years, much like Blade, Sentry hasn’t been a prominent figure in Marvel comics. Being one of Marvel’s numerous Superman-like characters in the primary universe, Sentry has started to blend into the background. However, things could change with the Ultimate Universe, as there isn’t a Superman equivalent in this universe at present. If introduced on Earth 6160, Sentry could potentially take on this role and become a central character.

Regarding modifying Sentry, consider giving him a unique twist by separating him from his villainous counterpart, The Void. This change might stir debate, but it’s all part of making the Ultimate universe distinct. Sentry has a strong following among movie fans due to his role in The Thunderbolts, so the Ultimate Universe offers an excellent opportunity to explore the character more creatively.

7) Dr. Strange

In the comic book series, Ultimate Black Panther, a new Sorcerer Supreme has emerged, but it’s important to note that Stephen Strange, the original character, hasn’t shown up in the mainline Ultimate universe yet. To put it another way, if DC Comics had their own version of an all-powerful Martian, we could imagine Strange in a similar role, yet distinct enough to be almost new. A reimagining of him as a mutant with ties to the Ancient One or Dormammu would introduce an intriguing twist and could be just what’s needed for this universe.

Including Doctor Strange in the Ultimate Universe as a unique character in a possible ongoing or maxi series could significantly boost the appeal of more Ultimate comics. While debate often favors quality over quantity, Marvel could benefit from a few additional titles in its collection, and magic-themed stories are almost always captivating.

8) Inhumans

Lately, the Inhumans have been seldom seen in Marvel stories due to fewer appearances. Their image and standing took a hit after a disappointing TV series and being disliked by comic book readers during the “Uncanny Inhumans” period. Now, they are seeking a new beginning. With a sizable cast for their team comic and a deep mythology to draw upon, the Inhumans present an excellent opportunity for a reboot in the Ultimate universe.

They might continue residing on the moon while also maintaining their original characters. However, by altering some of their interactions, they could gradually migrate to Earth and interact with humans. As they do so, they may emerge as a significant force against the Maker and his council. The potential scenarios are limitless, but it’s high time for the Inhumans to make a comeback.

9) Ghost Rider

The title “Spirit of Vengeance” has been passed down through numerous individuals over time, transforming from a ghostly figure in the old west to an emissary for Galactus. With numerous possibilities associated with Ghost Rider, it’s ripe for inclusion in the Ultimate Universe as a potential new recruit for The Ultimates. Wielding the Spirit of Vengeance could prove instrumental in confronting The Maker and his council, serving as a potent weapon for Doom and co. in their battles ahead.

It seems that with numerous candidates potentially assuming the Spirit of Vengeance, it might be fitting for Danny Ketch to reclaim his mantle. Johnny Blaze could continue as a mentor in this world, and Robbie’s role as a team supporter would add an appealing touch. Fans have been eagerly anticipating Danny’s return for quite some time, and the Ultimate universe might provide the ideal platform for this comeback.

10) Cloak and Dagger

Last, yet by no means least, we present Cloak and Dagger. This exceptional pair from Marvel’s extensive character roster is currently gaining immense popularity from “Marvel Rivals.” This could be an ideal moment for new readers to get acquainted with them. The unique aspect of this comic would be to focus on a more low-key romance between the characters. With a heartwarming love story already established in the 616 universe, it seems fitting to continue that narrative in the Ultimate Universe.

One potential approach could be to reimagine Tyrone and Tandy as Cloak and Dagger, although this isn’t an entirely new concept. However, it might pique the interest of longtime readers and encourage them to explore this pairing. Their storyline revolves around their struggle against drug dealers, taking them on a transcontinental journey where they confront various drug lords. Along the way, they discover not only their shared enemies but also their feelings for each other. This unique twist could add an interesting layer to our existing lineup.
