The Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t just make superhero movies incredibly popular and profitable; it also told some fantastic stories. While the MCU films are now the main storyline for Marvel movies, the franchise cleverly incorporated older films through the idea of the Multiverse, linking past and present adaptations. Given its strong, connected universe and recent success with both audiences and at the box office, many believe Marvel currently leads the superhero genre.
It’s surprisingly difficult to end a comic book movie perfectly – whether that means tying up all loose ends in a satisfying way, hinting at exciting things to come, or skillfully doing both. However, several Marvel films have managed to pull it off, delivering truly great conclusions to major blockbuster stories.
10) Cap Becomes A Fugitive – Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Captain America has had many memorable moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and each of his standalone films ended strongly. However, Civil War, the third film featuring Steve Rogers as Captain America, provided a particularly satisfying conclusion. After refusing to sign the Sokovia Accords, Rogers became a wanted man. The film ends with Steve fully embracing his role as an outlaw by freeing his fellow heroes from imprisonment and stepping down as Captain America – a natural and fitting resolution to the story.
9) Shuri Meets Her Nephew – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)

Following Chadwick Boseman’s passing, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued the legacy of Black Panther. At the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Shuri, T’Challa’s sister who took on the role of Black Panther, meets her nephew, revealing T’Challa’s son. This introduces a new heir to the Black Panther title, offering a promising path forward for the MCU while respectfully acknowledging Boseman’s portrayal of the character. The ending thoughtfully and sensitively addressed the emotional impact of T’Challa’s death.
8) Blade Goes to Russia – Blade (1998)

Wesley Snipes’ performance as Blade in the Marvel movie trilogy is unforgettable, filled with truly amazing scenes. The first Blade film was a fantastic introduction to the character and remains notable for its innovative ending. In a thrilling final fight, Blade barely manages to defeat Deacon Frost and decides to keep fighting vampires. The movie concludes with a brief scene of Blade hunting a vampire in Moscow, subtly suggesting a potential sequel without confirming it – making it a perfect ending to a great Marvel film.
7) Miles Morales Embraces His Hero Identity – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Let me tell you, 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse wasn’t just another superhero movie – it introduced us to Miles Morales, a fresh take on Spider-Man, and it completely blew me away. It’s an origin story, sure, showing us how this young kid from New York becomes his Spider-Man, but it’s so much more. The animation is groundbreaking, and the story dives deep into the wild idea of multiple universes, all while Miles grapples with figuring out who he is. But what really stuck with me was the ending. It’s perfect – a beautiful moment where Miles fully accepts his role as the hero his city needs, understands the weight of that responsibility, and confidently steps into his own future, believing in himself like never before.
6) Peter Parker’s Fresh Start – Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Spider-Man: No Way Home deeply impacted Peter Parker, establishing him as a particularly vulnerable character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film portrays a downward spiral of events, beginning with the exposure of his identity and culminating in a fractured Multiverse. Ultimately, Peter is forced to make the heartbreaking decision to have the world forget who he is. This bittersweet conclusion feels both tragic and right, aligning the character more closely with his comic book origins and providing a satisfying end to his first three MCU films while seamlessly connecting to the larger Multiverse Saga. It’s a remarkably effective ending for a Marvel movie.
5) Professor X & Magneto Go Their Separate Ways – X-Men: First Class (2011)

Professor X and Magneto are incredibly powerful characters in the X-Men films. The 2011 movie, X-Men: First Class, aimed to build on their popularity by showing how their relationship began. The film depicted the start of their friendship, but ultimately showed Magneto drifting away from Xavier and embracing a more villainous path. While the ending felt conclusive, it also naturally opened the door for future stories, especially with Michael Fassbender’s compelling portrayal of Magneto and James McAvoy solidifying his role as the leader of the X-Men.
4) Go Get ‘Em, Tiger – Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Many fans consider Spider-Man 2 to be one of the greatest superhero movies ever made, highlighting its memorable scenes outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Director Sam Raimi successfully built on his 2002 hit, delivering a film with a truly satisfying conclusion. The movie ends with Mary Jane leaving her wedding to be with Peter Parker, and then encouraging him to go be Spider-Man when duty calls. It’s a feel-good ending that perfectly capped off a fantastic film, giving fans the happy resolution they wanted.
3) The End of the Avengers – Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Although the Avengers films are known for their strong conclusions, the ending of Avengers: Endgame is considered the best. This final film in the Infinity Saga showed the deaths of Black Widow and Iron Man, and Steve Rogers’ retirement to the past, giving a beloved hero a peaceful conclusion. It was a particularly impactful ending, not only finishing a great movie, but also bringing a satisfying close to eleven years of storytelling and resolving many characters’ journeys.
2) Tony Stark Announces His Secret Identity – Iron Man (2008)

A standout moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe happens at the end of the first Iron Man film. After defeating the Iron Monger, Tony Stark is expected to give a carefully worded statement to conceal his identity as Iron Man. Instead, he dramatically reveals to the world that he is Iron Man, completely improvising and creating a historic moment for the MCU. This ending was ideal for the film itself, for Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of the character, and for the overall direction of the MCU, as it established the exciting and unpredictable tone that would define the series.
1) Wolverine Dies – Logan (2017)

Many fans and critics consider 2017’s Logan to be one of the greatest Marvel movies ever made. It offered a raw, intense, and moving take on the “Old Man Logan” comic book story, giving the character a powerfully emotional and satisfying conclusion. In a final, desperate battle to safeguard his daughter, Logan achieves victory but knows it will be his last. The scene of this seemingly indestructible hero accepting his own mortality remains incredibly impactful, and the film continues to resonate with viewers even after multiple viewings.
