Wow, it’s hard to believe My Hero Academia‘s anime has finished! Nine years after it first aired, we’ve reached the end of an amazing journey. The manga wrapped up last year and the ending was a bit divisive, but honestly, the anime adaptation really stuck the landing – everyone’s been raving about how beautifully they told the story. As for what’s next from Kohei Horikoshi, the creator? We’re all waiting with bated breath! He hasn’t announced a new series or a continuation of MHA yet. There are a few spin-offs, like My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, which are cool, but it’s just not the same as getting a brand new story directly from him.
With the villains finally defeated, the story wrapped up by showing the consequences of the long and difficult war. Many of the original heroes either died or stepped down, creating opportunities for a new generation. While Deku and his friends are just starting their journeys, viewers won’t get to see everything that happens during their time as professional heroes. Because so many fans have followed the series for years, the ending is likely to be bittersweet. Though nothing can truly replace My Hero Academia, here are 10 other shows that might help fill the void.
10) Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun!

This incredibly funny show is inspired by the manga created by Osamu Nishi, also known for the popular series Ichi the Witch. It centers around Iruma Suzuki, a boy who had to work hard to support himself because of his neglectful parents.
Iruma is shocked to discover his parents have made a deal to sell him to a demon named Sullivan. He fears the worst, but instead of a terrible fate, he finds himself in a surprisingly warm home with a loving grandfather who insists he attend Babyls, a school for demons. As Iruma adjusts to this bizarre new life, he begins to uncover hidden powers within himself.
9) Little Witch Academia

Similar to My Hero Academia, this fantasy series centers on a main character striving to reach the level of someone she admires. Atsuko Kagari, nicknamed Akko, is determined to become a witch who can bring happiness to others, taking inspiration from the popular witch Shiny Chariot.
Even though she doesn’t come from a magical family, Akko enrolls at Luna Nova Magical Academy and makes friends with other students learning witchcraft. Determined to keep up with her classmates, she enthusiastically pursues her dream, not realizing how difficult the path ahead will be.
8) Tiger & Bunny

Though it’s often overlooked, Tiger & Bunny is a fantastic superhero anime with a lot in common with My Hero Academia. Both shows feature heroes who are public figures, battling villains to protect people. In Tiger & Bunny, these heroes appear regularly on a TV show called Hero TV, competing to become the next top hero, known as the King of Heroes.
The story centers around Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, a seasoned hero known as “Wild Tiger,” and his new partner, Barnaby, or “Bunny.” After a recent slump in performance, Tiger is teamed up with Bunny, despite their clashing personalities. They must learn to cooperate to overcome the dangers hidden within the vibrant city and save their careers.
7) Mashle: Magic & Muscles

These two stories center around determined characters who have to work for everything they achieve – they weren’t born with any innate magical abilities. The setting is a funny and action-packed fantasy world where people born with magic have visible marks to prove it, and those without are considered disposable. Mash Burndead, a quiet young man with incredible strength but no magical powers, hides away with his adopted father to stay safe.
His quiet life is turned upside down when a secret from his past is revealed, threatening both him and his father. To escape legal trouble, Mash is forced to enroll in the Magic Academy and strive to become a Divine Visionary – a prestigious title desired by every mage in the land.
6) Assassination Classroom

Both My Hero Academia and Assassination Classroom are about training students, but in very different ways. My Hero Academia focuses on turning students into professional heroes, while Assassination Classroom centers on a group of troubled middle schoolers learning the art of assassination. These students, who make up Class 3-E, are separated from the rest of the school due to their academic performance or behavioral issues.
I’ve learned about something incredible – and a little terrifying. Apparently, a few people in power know that their teacher, Koro Sensei, isn’t what he seems. He’s this strange, yellow, octopus-like being who actually destroyed part of the moon! Now he’s threatening to do the same to Earth, and the only way to stop him is to… well, eliminate him. The problem is, he’s unbelievably powerful, making that much harder than it sounds.
5) Jujutsu Kaisen

Although the two series have very different storylines, they both begin with young, ordinary boys who unexpectedly gain incredible powers. In one series, Yuji Itadori, a strong high school student, meets Megumi Fushiguro, a secretive teen trying to protect something. Unfortunately, Megumi arrives too late and the item is unleashed.
I watched as Yuji’s power started to come out, and things immediately got dangerous for his friends, including Megumi. He did something incredibly risky to try and protect them, and it left him with a frightening new ability. After that, he and Megumi ended up at Jujutsu High in Tokyo, where they both began training to understand this strange world of Jujutsu and how to control his powers.
4) Haikyu!!

Many people consider this sports anime a classic feel-good series. It follows Shoyo Hinata, an enthusiastic but short boy, who dreams of becoming a famous volleyball player like the legendary “Little Giant.” Unfortunately, Shoyo’s first middle school tournament was a disappointment, as his team was quickly defeated by the talented team led by Tobio Kageyama.
After overcoming a difficult experience, Shoyo joins Karasuno High School, the same school attended by his volleyball idol, the Little Giant. To his surprise, he finds his old rival, Tobio, there as well. Now, they’ll have to learn to cooperate if they want to reach the national tournament.
3) Black Clover

Although the worlds and overall feel of the two series are quite different, they both use common elements found in many shonen stories. Both begin with main characters who initially have no powers, but quickly gain them. In Black Clover, magic is central to everything, except for one person. Asta, an orphan raised in a small village, is born without any magical ability, but he pushes himself harder than anyone else to overcome this disadvantage.
However, Yuno, another boy raised at the same orphanage, is remarkably gifted – even nobles recognize his incredible talent. Both boys, despite their different magical strengths, share the same ambitious goal: to become the Wizard King, the most powerful Magic Knight in the Clover Kingdom.
2) Demon Slayer

Recently, Demon Slayer has become a standout action series. It tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who returns home to find his family brutally murdered. His sister, Nezuko, is the sole survivor, but she’s been transformed into a demon. Determined to save her, Tanjiro journeys through a snowy forest with Nezuko, where they meet the enigmatic Demon Slayer, Giyu Tomioka.
Recognizing that Tanjiro and Nezuko are unique compared to other people affected by demons, he directs Tanjiro to begin training as a Demon Slayer. This sets Tanjiro on a path to join the Demon Slayer Corps, hoping he can find the demon who harmed his family and potentially discover a way to restore Nezuko’s humanity.
1) My Hero Academia: Vigilantes

This series is an official spin-off based on a manga by Hideyuki and Court Betten. It’s set five years before the original story, during a time when crime is increasing in a city filled with people who have superpowers. While heroes are constantly working to protect everyone, danger still hides in the city’s shadows and backstreets.
Many unlicensed vigilantes risk arrest to fight villains, and that’s why Kouichi Haimawari, a college student who felt his Quirk wasn’t strong enough to become a hero, decides to take action. He gets caught up in a dangerous criminal underworld after meeting a mysterious vigilante named Kazuko Haneyama, ultimately finding a purpose.
