10 Years Later, A Newly Added Sci-Fi Masterpiece Is A Hit For Netflix (& It Couldn’t Deserve It More)

As a sci-fi fan, I’m thrilled to see a real gem getting a second life! We all know the genre consistently delivers, with films like *Interstellar*, *2001: A Space Odyssey*, and *Blade Runner* constantly raising the bar. But I’ve been noticing a lot of buzz around a particular film – one that originally came out about a decade ago – and it’s all thanks to its recent arrival on Netflix. It seems like a lot of viewers are discovering – or rediscovering – just how brilliant it is, and honestly, it’s fantastic to see!

I’m so glad *The Martian* landed on Netflix! It’s already become a hit – it jumped onto the top 10 movie list in just a few days and is currently sitting at number seven! While we don’t know exactly how many people are watching, it’s beating out other popular titles like *Ruth & Boaz* and *Casper*. Right now, it’s only behind some really big animated movies like *Dog Man* and *Despicable Me 3*, and the super popular *KPop Demon Hunters*. It’s fantastic to see this amazing movie, based on the Andy Weir book, getting so much love!

The Martian Is a Modern Sci-Fi Classic That Needs to Be Watched

It’s no surprise that *The Martian* is doing so well on Netflix. The film is a major success in the science fiction genre, earning both critical praise and a large audience. It made $653 million worldwide – making it director Ridley Scott’s most successful film and one of the top ten highest-grossing films of 2015 – and received a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, along with many award nominations. Beyond all that, *The Martian* is widely considered one of the best sci-fi films of recent years.

Many science fiction stories feature fantastical worlds and impossible events, but *The Martian* stands out by focusing on scientific realism. Instead of being a simple futuristic fantasy, the movie prioritizes accuracy – from how the astronaut makes water on Mars to his methods for growing food – to create a believable and captivating survival story.

There’s much to love about *The Martian*. Matt Damon gives what many consider the best performance of his career, brilliantly portraying Dr. Mark Watney’s emotional journey as he faces extreme isolation and relentlessly works to survive on Mars. The movie is a genuinely exciting and heartwarming story that ultimately highlights the power of human ingenuity and science.
