As a huge James Bond fan, I was so thrilled to see Daniel Craig take on the role back in 2006! It’s hard to believe his time as 007 just ended with No Time to Die after 15 years. He gave us five amazing films, though it wasn’t always smooth sailing – Casino Royale was incredible, but Quantum of Solace didn’t quite hit the mark. What I really loved about Craig’s Bond was that his story felt complete; it actually ended, which is something we hadn’t really seen before. And now, all his films are on Netflix, and it’s awesome to see one of them really taking off with viewers!
Although Casino Royale was arguably the strongest film in the series and No Time to Die provided a satisfying end to Daniel Craig’s time as James Bond, data from FlixPatrol shows that SPECTRE is unexpectedly popular on Netflix. Currently, No Time to Die is the third most-watched movie on the platform – as expected, given it was Craig’s final appearance. However, SPECTRE is sixth, performing better than any other James Bond film.
Many Bond fans underestimate SPECTRE, the fourth film in the series and a follow-up to the popular Skyfall. The movie introduced Christoph Waltz as Ernst Blofeld and explored a new dynamic between the characters. Interestingly, SPECTRE marked the second time director Sam Mendes helmed a Bond film – he also directed Skyfall. This made him the first director to return to the franchise since Martin Campbell directed both GoldenEye and Casino Royale.
Despite being an exciting installment in the James Bond series, SPECTRE didn’t initially impress critics or fans, receiving scores of 63% and 61% on Rotten Tomatoes, respectively. Many viewers weren’t critical of the film’s quality, but rather how it altered the dynamic between Bond and Blofeld. Now, with SPECTRE available on Netflix, audiences have a chance to revisit the movie and perhaps see it in a new light.
Why Are the James Bond Movies on Netflix?

James Bond fans were surprised to find all 25 films available on Netflix this month. This is unusual because Amazon now owns the Bond franchise after buying MGM. While Amazon had the right to distribute the movies, they also took over creative control from the producers who have overseen the series for many years, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
It seemed odd when Amazon allowed the James Bond films to move from its Prime Video service to Netflix. However, there’s a good reason for the decision. Amazon likely realized that Netflix has a huge audience, and letting them stream Bond films can reignite fans’ passion for the character. This will keep James Bond popular and relevant while Amazon plans the future of the franchise.
