This makes it the only season of the series to achieve a perfect score, although other seasons also have high ratings – Season 7 at 95% and Seasons 1 & 2 at 92%. IGN gave the first three episodes of Season 8 an 8 out of 10, praising its ability to move storylines forward while staying true to the show’s beloved characters. The AV Club awarded the season a B+, noting that it confidently tackles complex questions about Claire and Jamie’s family history and future.

Fans are understandably curious about how Outlander Season 8 will wrap up the series. While the final episodes are based on the ninth book, Diana Gabaldon is still writing a tenth book, and some parts of that story might be included in the show. It’s common for TV adaptations to borrow from unreleased books, as seen with Game of Thrones, but this could mean the show’s ending differs from the book series’ conclusion. This leaves many wondering how the story will ultimately be resolved.
