Streaming services like Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix have boosted animation’s popularity, but traditional broadcast television is still home to some of the most iconic shows. Series like The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Bob’s Burgers, American Dad, and Family Guy all originally aired on Fox. Over many seasons, Fox Animation has allowed these shows to move to other platforms. Today marks the three-year anniversary of a major animated crossover event, and it’s a good time to remember when the worlds of these Fox shows came together.
In a recent episode of Family Guy, Peter Griffin is walking on a boardwalk while on the phone with Lois. Trying to avoid his duties, Peter accidentally walks right into Bob’s Burgers. Inside, he learns about an “Emmy winner discount” that Homer Simpson is using. This is ironic because Family Guy has won Emmys before, but never for the prestigious “Outstanding Comedy Series” award, a fact the characters seem to acknowledge. While this crossover was a surprise to many viewers, it’s not the first time characters from Fox’s animated shows have appeared together. You can watch the scene in the video linked below.
Fox’s Crossover History

Fox’s animated shows have often blended universes, but one crossover stands out: the season thirteen premiere of Family Guy. This special episode brought the families from Quahog (Family Guy) and Springfield (The Simpsons) together for the first time. Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin quickly became friends, but their relationship soon soured, leading to a comical rivalry. The tension peaked just before Peter returned home, as he couldn’t resist criticizing the Simpsons. This ultimately sparked a massive and memorable fight, considered one of the biggest in animated history.
One notable crossover event happened when characters from Futurama visited Springfield in The Simpsons. Because both shows were created by Matt Groening, bringing these worlds together was likely a smoother process. While not as action-packed as the encounter between Homer and Peter Griffin, the crossover still produced some memorable scenes. You can find this special episode in the twenty-sixth season of The Simpsons.
I’m so excited! It looks like we’re going to get even more amazing crossovers! Fox just renewed The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, and American Dad for multiple seasons, which means all our favorite characters could team up again in the future. Seriously, the possibilities are endless, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with!
