2025 was a fantastic year for anime, with popular series like Solo Leveling and Dandadan continuing their stories. Fans of Shonen Jump also enjoyed the anime adaptations of highly-rated manga like Sakamoto Days and Witch Watch, which quickly gained a following. Shonen Jump is known for its diverse and exciting manga, especially action-packed titles, but it offers much more. Each year brings new anime based on series published by Shueisha, and 2026 is already looking promising with the premiere of You and I Are Polar Opposites. The rest of the year promises even more incredible shows, including Psyren, a series originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2007 to 2010.
I remember when Weekly Shonen Jump (WSJ) first hit the stands in 1968. It quickly became the most popular manga magazine ever, publishing some truly iconic series that everyone knows – things like Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto. But over the years, a lot of great stories seemed to slip under the radar. One of those is Psyren by Toshiaki Iwashiro, which I always thought deserved more attention. Last December, we finally got news that an anime adaptation, made by Satelight, is coming out in 2026! While we wait, Manga Plus has put all the chapters online for fans to read before the anime premieres. You can also find all the chapters on Viz Media’s website, and they even have links if you want to buy the volumes as physical copies or digitally.
What Is The Plot of Psyren?

Ageha Yoshina is a high schooler who earns money by helping others. One day, he finds a mysterious card with the word ‘Psyren’ on it and pockets it, not realizing how much it will impact his life. The next day, he discovers a classmate, Sakurako Amamiya, has the same card. When he asks her about it, she unexpectedly asks him for help, pulling Ageha into a series of unexpected problems.
I was completely hooked when Sakurako disappeared, and I just had to find out what was going on! It all started when I decided to call the number on that mysterious card, and this weird voice asked if I wanted to go to a place called Psyren. Turns out, Psyren is this insane world filled with terrifying creatures called Taboo! Before I knew it, me and Sakurako were thrown into this deadly game, but we were given a crazy gift – psychic powers! It’s a wild ride trying to survive and figure out the truth behind everything.
The characters face an uphill battle to get back home, but they need to succeed. While fans are hoping for the anime to come out this year, the studio hasn’t announced a release date or even shown a full trailer yet. They only released a short teaser in December 2025. With Winter and Spring seasons already planned, the anime might premiere in Summer or Fall, unless production runs into problems.
