2 Years After It Went On Hiatus, Dragon Ball Super Drops Major Tease for Return

The manga adaptation of Dragon Ball Super has been paused for two years, but the artist recently hinted at its upcoming continuation. This has been an exciting year for Dragon Ball fans, with the announcement of a new anime series launching this fall. However, the manga has remained on hold while the anime moves forward.

As a huge Dragon Ball fan, I was really saddened when Dragon Ball Super went on break after Chapter 103 back on March 20th, 2024, especially with the news of Akira Toriyama’s passing. We did get one last story from him, which was amazing, but things have been quiet since then. However, I’m getting so excited because Toyotaro, the artist, hinted on social media that the series is coming back! He just said, “Everything is for the return of the series,” and that’s all the hope I need right now!

Dragon Ball Super Artist Teases the Manga’s Return at Last

The anime Dragon Ball Super is gaining popularity again, and it looks like the manga series might also be continuing. The artist is returning to work on a new side story, which could be what the recent announcement was about. However, the most exciting news is that Toyotaro is developing new Dragon Ball projects. With Toriyama’s passing, the team behind the franchise has been figuring out how to continue the series, which is a challenging task.

With new remakes and an upcoming anime based on the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner’ manga arc, the future of Dragon Ball Super looks secure. This also creates the possibility of adapting the ‘Granolah the Survivor’ arc later on. However, to keep the anime going long-term, the manga and anime will need to influence each other and provide fresh story content, or the anime could run out of material before fans want it to.

Dragon Ball Super Anime Returns in 2026

Fans can look forward to a revamped version of the “Battle of Gods” arc from Dragon Ball Super as the anime makes its return. This new series, called Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, will boast improved audio and visuals compared to the original broadcast. It’s scheduled to premiere this fall, though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet. This remake is just the first of several new anime projects planned for the future.

A new anime series, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, is in production. It will adapt the Galactic Patrol Prisoner story arc from the manga. While details like the release date and who’s working on it haven’t been announced yet, the series will take place after the Tournament of Power and the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie, but before the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
