Rumors suggest the next Nintendo Switch will receive a major game from 2024 – a title that sold over ten million copies. Nintendo is hosting a presentation soon showcasing upcoming games for both the current Switch and the new Switch 2. Before the presentation, details about one particularly popular game potentially being featured have leaked.
According to video game insider Nate the Hate, the popular action RPG Black Myth: Wukong is being developed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The game was a massive hit when it launched on PC and PlayStation 5 in 2024, quickly becoming one of the best-selling games ever. It later came to Xbox Series X/S in 2025 and earned Game of the Year awards from several outlets. As of now, Black Myth: Wukong has sold over 25 million copies, making it a huge success story of the last ten years.
Nate the Hate mentioned that the game is being developed for the Nintendo Switch 2, but didn’t offer many details. While it’s not certain, the insider thinks we might see Wukong in tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct presentation. If it isn’t announced this week, the developers, Game Science, could be planning to reveal it later in 2026.

If announced for the Switch 2, Black Myth: Wukong would likely be a major third-party release for the system. The Switch 2 is already receiving great support from developers beyond Nintendo, with games like Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Street Fighter 6 already available. If Wukong performs as well on the Switch 2 as it has elsewhere, it could quickly become one of the console’s biggest third-party hits.
Game Science, the creators of Black Myth: Wukong, are planning a sequel called Black Myth: Zhong Kui. Announced in 2025, the game is likely still several years from release. It’s currently unclear if it will be available on current consoles, or even the upcoming Switch 2.
