Quentin Tarantino is a filmmaker known for creating many memorable films. Though several of his works are popular, Kill Bill is often considered a fan favorite, and it has a particularly unique history. First released in 2003 as Kill Bill: Volume 1, it was followed by Kill Bill: Volume 2 in 2004. However, these two parts weren’t originally intended as separate films. The story of Uma Thurman’s character, The Bride, seeking revenge on her former employer after a long coma, was always conceived as a single movie-and now, viewers will finally be able to experience Kill Bill as Tarantino originally envisioned it.
On December 5th, Lionsgate will be showing both parts of Kill Bill in theaters, just as director Quentin Tarantino originally envisioned with Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. This means audiences will be able to see the film as one complete movie, and it will be widely released. The screenings will be available in both 70mm and 35mm formats, and Lionsgate expects it to play in theaters across the country.
“I treated it as a single film from start to finish, and I’m thrilled to offer fans the opportunity to experience it that way,” Tarantino explained. “The ideal way to watch Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is in a cinema, ideally in Glorious 70mm or 35mm. Seeing the blood and action on a large screen is truly spectacular!”
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair Will Remove The Controversial Cliffhanger (And Offer Fans Never-Before-Seen Footage)

When Kill Bill first came out, it was divided into two parts-Volume 1 and Volume 2-because the complete movie was over four hours long. Volume 1 ended with a cliffhanger, and Volume 2 began with a recap of what had happened so far, since it was released only six months later. This new, combined version removes both of those elements, presenting the story as Quentin Tarantino originally envisioned it. Although this isn’t the very first time the full story has been shown in theaters-Tarantino previously screened The Whole Bloody Affair at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 and at his New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles-this release will offer fans something extra. The upcoming wide theatrical release of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair includes a brand new, never-before-seen seven-and-a-half-minute animated sequence designed as a traditional intermission for the film.
Since Kill Bill was originally created and filmed as one complete movie, this wider release lets fans at last experience the film exactly as the director envisioned. Fans have requested this for years! When Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair hits theaters in December, it will be the ultimate, complete version of this famous film, and might even offer viewers a fresh perspective on The Bride’s story.
