A surprise sequel starring Liam Neeson unexpectedly became a huge hit on Netflix this week. *Ice Road: Vengeance*, following his 2021 film *The Ice Road*, has quickly become one of the platform’s most popular movies. It arrived with little promotion and after a quiet theatrical release in June, but viewers are clearly enjoying it and are eager for more action.
As a big action movie fan, I just watched *Ice Road: Vengeance*, and it’s a real thrill ride! It follows Liam Neeson as Mike McCann, a super-skilled ice road trucker who gets caught up in a dangerous mission. He’s just trying to honor his brother by scattering his ashes on Mount Everest, but things quickly go south when mercenaries start chasing him. It’s packed with vengeance, survival instincts, and non-stop action against a really harsh, unforgiving backdrop – seriously intense! And if you enjoy it as much as I did and want more, I’ve got three awesome action movies you can stream on Netflix right now.
3) Extraction 2
Following up on the 2020 hit *Extraction* (which is worth checking out!), *Extraction 2* brings back Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a skilled mercenary with a past in the Australian Special Air Service. After barely surviving a dangerous mission in Dhaka, Tyler tries to leave the mercenary life behind. But he’s pulled back in when someone asks him to rescue a woman, her children, and her sister – who happen to be connected to a powerful crime boss and are trying to escape. The movie is full of thrilling action, with intense fight scenes as Tyler battles corrupt soldiers and criminal forces to save them. Although *Extraction 2* differs from *Ice Road: Vengeance*, both films share a strong theme of fighting for family, making this a great choice if you enjoyed the latter.
2) Triple Frontier
If you enjoyed *Ice Road: Vengeance*, another exciting action movie you might like is *Triple Frontier*, released in 2019. The film stars Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, and Pedro Pascal, and follows a team of former Delta Force soldiers who reunite to rob a powerful South American drug lord. Similar to *Ice Road: Vengeance*, the challenging landscape is a key part of the action, as the team battles their way through dangerous terrain. With a thrilling car chase and intense gunfights, *Triple Frontier* delivers plenty of action-packed excitement.
1) The Mother
If you liked one action movie on Netflix, you’ll probably enjoy another, and *The Mother* is a great choice – it’s currently the sixth most-watched movie on the platform! Released in 2023, this film stars Jennifer Lopez as a former military operative who is forced out of hiding when her estranged daughter is kidnapped. Similar to *Ice Road: Vengeance*, *The Mother* is packed with action and centers around a protagonist fighting to protect their family.
