For 25 years, *Family Guy* has been a leading animated comedy for adults. It’s become a pop culture staple thanks to its distinctive and often shocking humor. Known for its quick cutaway jokes, willingness to poke fun at famous people, and humorous takes on current events, the show has also expanded its cast of characters over time. While many of the supporting characters are hilarious and appear often, some haven’t gotten the attention they deserve.
While *Family Guy* has many funny characters, some don’t get as much screen time as others. This is often intentional – the writers might use them sparingly to make their appearances, and the jokes they deliver, more impactful. Ultimately, the show boasts a large number of hilarious minor characters, and though it’s hard to choose, a few are particularly memorable for their humor.
3) Tomik & Bellgarde
You know, when people think of classic *Family Guy* running gags, Tomik and Bellgarde probably don’t immediately spring to mind, but honestly, they’re one of the consistently funniest parts of the show. These two are the guys who’ve been living in America for ages but still haven’t quite nailed the American accent. They first popped up in Season 6, and the writers kept bringing them back for little bits and pieces in later seasons. I remember seeing them most recently in Season 16’s “Follow the Money,” but sadly, they haven’t shown up since. I’m hoping they bring them back sometime!
Tomik and Bellgarde are hilarious because they perfectly embody a stereotype almost no one realized existed. The humor is simple: they’re genuinely nice guys struggling to adapt to a new culture and language, and a lot of the laughs come from their misunderstandings of idioms and grammar. Despite being a bit silly, the duo works surprisingly well together, creating many funny moments in their short scenes.
2) Al Harrington
Al Harrington perfectly illustrates how *Family Guy* can create a surprisingly memorable character with limited screen time. He’s the enthusiastic owner of the ‘Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tubeman Emporium and Warehouse’ – conveniently located off Route 2 in Weekapaug, Rhode Island – and a remarkably fast-talking salesman. You almost always see him with his signature inflatable tube men, which fill the space around him as he rapidly pitches his products.
Al Harrington is a recurring character known for his memorable appearances, including the hilarious *Star Wars* parody episode, *Blue Harvest*, on *Family Guy*. He embodies the show’s playful and often absurd humor, and his jokes are consistently lighthearted and enjoyable. Harrington’s humor is always straightforward and silly, and even though he doesn’t appear often, his scenes are consistently funny. He exaggerates the typical energetic businessman stereotype in a way that’s both ridiculous and surprisingly relatable.
1) The Greased-Up Deaf Guy
Though he might not be the *funniest* character on *Family Guy*, the Greased-Up Deaf Guy is definitely one of the show’s most unique and memorable minor characters. He first appeared in Season 3’s “The Thin White Line” as entertainment at a company picnic and continued to make appearances in later seasons. Even with very little screen time, he delivered some of the most iconic lines from the show’s earlier years.
The character’s humor comes from how unusual and unexpected he is. His sudden appearance and straightforward name are funny to begin with, and the show consistently builds on that humor with each subsequent appearance. By portraying him as a harmless, quirky local character, *Family Guy* perfectly utilizes this minor character, consistently maximizing laughs by placing him in surprising situations that catch viewers off guard.
