3 Games That Take Forever to Beat

Remember when video games were quick and simple – you’d put in a quarter and play for a few minutes? Games have come a long way! While many now offer lots of gameplay, some are truly massive. Games like Minecraft, which are open-world or sandbox style, can take hundreds of hours to fully complete, even just to beat the main boss. We’ve compiled a list of the longest games to finish, considering not just those aiming for 100% completion, but any playthrough that requires a significant time commitment. The games are listed from the shortest to the longest completion time.

1) Kenshi

Kenshi is a unique and engaging game, blending real-time strategy with RPG elements. Remarkably, it was developed over 12 years by a single person! Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Kenshi lets you fully customize your character and explore a vast open world. It’s a deep and immersive experience that can easily keep you playing for many hours. Players can expect to spend around 81.5 hours to finish the main story, 137 hours to complete the main story plus extra content, and an impressive 273 hours for those who want to experience absolutely everything the game has to offer.

2) Satisfactory

Satisfactory is a game where you build factories on an alien planet, starting with almost nothing. You’ll gather the planet’s resources to create increasingly complex production lines. As you play, everything grows bigger and requires more materials to advance. A typical playthrough takes around 106 hours, but with all the extra content, you can expect to spend 145 hours. If you aim to complete everything, it could take around 226 hours.

3) Elite: Dangerous

Elite Dangerous is a huge space simulator where you can trade, explore, and fight. It accurately recreates the entire Milky Way galaxy, with around 400 billion stars to discover. Each planet you visit is uniquely generated with its own landscapes, creatures, and settlements. The main story takes about 113 hours to finish, but with all the optional things to do, you could easily spend 254 hours playing. If you really want to see and do everything, it will take an average of 677 hours – that’s more than 28 full days!
