3 Marvel Characters Who Use Adamantium the MCU Needs To Include (Apart From Wolverine)

As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve always been fascinated by vibranium. It really took center stage in the early phases of the MCU, especially with Captain America’s shield – such an iconic piece! We saw how important it was when Ultron got his hands on some through that shady Ulysses Klaue, who clearly wasn’t respecting Wakanda, the source of all that amazing metal. But it looks like Wakanda might not be the only place with a vibranium claim anymore. The events in Eternals – a movie that didn’t quite land with everyone – hinted at a new location rising from the Indian Ocean, and I’m really curious to see how that plays into things going forward.

The massive, Earth-born Tiamut dies before it can destroy the planet, but its death isn’t the final chapter. Captain America: Brave New World shows that it contains adamantium, a remarkably strong metal comparable to vibranium. While adamantium is best known as Wolverine’s signature material in Marvel Comics, other characters have used it as well. Here are three Marvel heroes, besides Wolverine, who utilize adamantium and could be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

3) Daken

Wolverine has a long and complicated history, filled with many different experiences. During one period of his life, he fell in love with a woman named Itsu, and they had a son named Akihiro. Sadly, Akihiro inherited some of his father’s abilities, like claws and a fast healing rate, which also caused him to age at a very slow pace.

I’ve always been fascinated by Daken’s story. He had a tough upbringing, changing his name to Akihiro and dedicating his life to getting revenge on his father for what happened to his mother. What really makes him scary, though, is when he coats his claws with adamantium – it takes him to a whole other level. I’d love to see Marvel introduce him into the movies as a real challenge and rival for Wolverine; it would be an amazing dynamic!

2) Deathlok

It’s not just mutants who benefit from advanced technology at Marvel. Michael Collins, an engineer working for Roxxon Corporation, learns his work is being used to build a deadly weapon as part of the Deathlok Project. When he tries to reveal what’s happening, he’s transformed into a cyborg and loses control of his own body.

Beyond being a skilled killer, Deathlok’s nearly indestructible adamantium skeleton makes him a formidable opponent. The Marvel Cinematic Universe could use some unpredictable characters, and Deathlok fits the bill perfectly. The only complication is that a version of him already appeared in the show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but that version didn’t have the adamantium skeleton.

1) Lady Deathstrike

The original X-Men film really tests Wolverine, pitting him against a villain who can manipulate metal. The sequel, X2, keeps the pressure on by introducing Lady Deathstrike, another product of the Weapon X program, but with five claws instead of three. She’s a formidable opponent, and the only way to defeat her is with a large amount of the same metal that reinforces her body.

I’ve always thought Lady Deathstrike was a cool character, but she hasn’t really gotten a proper chance in the movies. They used her briefly in one X-Men film and had a version pop up in Deadpool & Wolverine, but I’m hoping the MCU will really explore her story. In the comics, she leads this whole group obsessed with adamantium, and she’s fixated on Wolverine because she thinks he doesn’t deserve to have adamantium in his bones. It’d be amazing to see that developed on screen!
