3 New PS5 Games Outscore Saros on the PlayStation Store

Saros was the major PlayStation 5 release last week, and it’s only available on that console. It was created by Housemarque, a studio now owned by PlayStation. Most PlayStation fans seem to be enjoying the new action game, giving it a 4.67 out of 5-star rating on the PlayStation Store. While that’s a positive score, it’s unclear if it’s a truly exceptional result for a PlayStation exclusive title.

Recently, three new indie games have been released on the PlayStation Store that currently have better user reviews than the recently released AAA title, Saros. While these games have fewer total reviews – and their scores could change over time – they’re worth checking out if you’re looking for something new, aren’t interested in Saros, or want a more affordable option than the $70 price tag.

Motorslice

Motorslice is a fast-paced parkour game for PS5, similar to the Prince of Persia series. Released on May 5th by Regular Studio, it costs $20 and has received very positive feedback from players on the PlayStation Store, averaging 4.89 out of 5 stars from almost 300 reviews. Interestingly, this player score is higher than its score of 79 on the review site Metacritic.

Mixtape

Developed by Beethoven & Dinosaur and published by Annapurna Interactive, Mixtape is a charming adventure game that follows a coming-of-age story. It launched on the PlayStation Store on May 7th for $20 and has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from players, boasting a 4.92 out of 5-star rating from over 700 reviews. Critics also enjoyed the game, awarding it a Metacritic score of 85.

Will: Follow the Light

The game Will: Follow the Light launched on the PlayStation Store on May 7th, created by TomorrowHead Studio. Players seem to love it, giving it an average rating of 4.71 out of 5 stars based on 34 reviews. This is a significantly better score than the 70 it received on Metacritic. The game costs $25 on the PlayStation 5.

These three new PS5 games are proving more popular with players than with reviewers. Interestingly, while they’re well-received by the public, they haven’t scored as highly with critics as Saros. Despite being lower-rated on the PlayStation Store, Saros actually has a better Metacritic score – an 87 – than all three of these newer titles.
