The startup sound of the Nintendo GameCube instantly brings back fond memories for many players who grew up with it. The GameCube was a unique period for Nintendo, where they weren’t yet focused on motion controls but still created really fun and original games. This was particularly true for games you could only play on the GameCube, as they were specifically designed for that console.
The GameCube had a lot of great games, from popular franchises like Pokémon and Donkey Kong to lesser-known titles. While some older games are getting remakes or remastered now, giving them a chance to reach new audiences, a few GameCube gems have been overlooked. Games like *Kirby Air Ride* have already seen a revival, but these three underrated titles deserve a modern comeback as soon as possible.
3. Donkey Konga

Rhythm games are still enjoyed today, and *Donkey Konga* was a pioneer in the genre. What made it special was its unique bongo-shaped controller – you literally hit it with your hands! *Rock Band* later used a similar idea with drums, but many players felt the bongo controller was more satisfying. *Donkey Konga* also featured a great selection of songs and entertaining mini-games, making it a genuinely fun experience. Despite being a Nintendo game, it never reached the same level of popularity as other titles from that era, making it a bit of a hidden gem from the GameCube days.
A sequel to *Donkey Konga* was released, and Japan even got a third game in the series. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new installment – the last one was on the GameCube – and I think that’s unfortunate. While the Wii and Switch have motion controls, there’s still something special about physically hitting real buttons. A new *Donkey Konga* game could bring back that satisfying, tactile experience.
2.Chibi-Robo

I absolutely love playing as Chibi-Robo! You’re this tiny, super cute robot running around a house, and your job is to basically keep everything tidy and working. It’s a platformer, so you’re jumping and exploring, but there’s a fun twist – as a robot, you need to find places to plug in and recharge! It’s so satisfying collecting “Happy Points” as you clean, and honestly, it reminds me a bit of *PowerWash Simulator*, but with way more different things to do and, of course, a really adorable little robot!
Out of all the games mentioned, *Chibi-Robo* is the most accessible right now, as it was recently added to the Nintendo Classics library on the Switch 2. While the series has had several follow-ups, there hasn’t been a new *Chibi-Robo* game or updated version since 2015’s *Chibi-Robo! Zip Dash*. It’s fantastic to have the original game available again after 10 years, but a completely updated remake would be even more exciting.
1. Lost Kingdoms

Before creating the popular Dark Souls series, FromSoftware developed Lost Kingdoms, a role-playing game only available on the GameCube. While shorter than many modern RPGs, it gained a loyal fanbase. What sets Lost Kingdoms apart is its innovative real-time card-battle system, making it a hidden treasure on the GameCube.
Lost Kingdoms had one sequel, also released only for the GameCube. Since 2003, no new games in the series have been made. However, many fans are hoping for a remake or a new installment, as the original game’s interesting gameplay could be even more enjoyable with updated graphics and a more extensive story.
