PlayStation announced it will host a new State of Play presentation this week on September 24th. The event will be about 35 minutes long and will include a first look at gameplay from *Saros*, the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive developed by Housemarque. Beyond that, PlayStation hasn’t revealed what else will be shown, so we can only speculate about the rest of the presentation.
Okay, so I’ve been thinking about the PlayStation State of Play, and I’ve got three predictions I’m pretty confident about. Look, there are no guarantees in this business, but based on what PlayStation has been doing lately, these feel like the most likely things to happen. I’m putting my gamer faith in these!
1. Wolverine Will Indeed Make an Appearance

Everyone is expecting Insomniac Games to finally share new details about *Marvel’s Wolverine* at the upcoming State of Play. The game was announced in 2021, but we haven’t heard much about it since, except for some leaked footage after Insomniac was hacked. We still don’t know when it will be released, what the story is about, or what the gameplay will be like. However, I believe we’ll get answers to all of these questions by tomorrow.
I strongly believe we’ll see *Marvel’s Wolverine* this week because of how PlayStation handled the announcement of *Ghost of Tsushima* last year. They first showed *Ghost of Tsushima* at a State of Play event, starting a marketing campaign that’s now leading up to its release in just over a week. If *Wolverine* is PlayStation’s major exclusive for Fall 2026, I expect they’ll use a similar approach – revealing the game this week to kick off the marketing and build excitement for its release in about a year.
2. Don’t Expect to See Anything From Intergalactic

PlayStation announced *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet* in late 2024, and it’s shaping up to be one of their most significant upcoming releases. Developed by Naughty Dog – the team behind *The Last of Us* and *Uncharted* – there’s a lot of excitement to see what they’ve created with this new game.
It’s very unlikely we’ll see *Intergalactic* at the upcoming State of Play. When the game was revealed last year, it was clear it was still quite a ways from release. I believe this means it will be one of the last PlayStation exclusives to launch on PS5, probably in 2027 or 2028. While I’m hoping to be surprised and see more of *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet* this week, I expect we’ll have to wait until 2026 to get another look at gameplay.
3. Rumored God of War Game Finally Gets Announced

A popular rumor this year suggests a new God of War game is coming soon. However, instead of being a direct sequel to *God of War Ragnarok*, it’s expected to be a smaller, standalone experience – possibly a Metroidvania-style game. This new title is also said to be a prequel, taking place in ancient Greece and exploring events that happened before the Norse saga.
With so many reliable rumors circulating, I strongly believe a new God of War game is in development. Announcing it at the upcoming State of Play would be ideal for PlayStation, giving them a major game to showcase and something to look forward to before the next full God of War title, which is likely still a few years away. While it’s unclear if the game will be released in 2025 or 2026, I’m confident we’ll finally get a reveal soon.
