3 Reasons Jean Grey Is Perfect as the MCU’s First X-Men Member

The new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has everyone talking, especially about the possible role of Sadie Sink. Many fans believe she’ll be playing Jean Grey, which would bring this popular character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and potentially mark the first appearance of an X-Men member in the MCU.

Both options would be incredibly exciting. But especially the second one, there are several good reasons why Marvel should go for it – some related to the strong rumors about Sadie Sink potentially being cast, and others that stand on their own merits.

Jean Grey’s Powers Make Her A Great Fit For The Current MCU

Jean Grey is considered one of the strongest members of the X-Men, largely because of her link to the Phoenix Force. This connection gives her incredible abilities, like the power to come back to life – a feat rarely seen even among the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She’s also one of the X-Men’s most powerful telepaths, possibly the strongest.

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe building towards Avengers: Secret Wars, introducing a character as powerful as Jean Grey feels like a natural fit. Especially considering Wanda Maximoff (the Scarlet Witch) died in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU really needs someone with Jean Grey’s abilities to take on a major role.

A Character As Powerful As Jean Grey Deserves A Leading Role

Bringing Jean Grey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe now feels like a natural fit, considering where the franchise is headed. Introducing her as the first X-Men member makes sense, as she could play a key role going forward. Jean Grey is incredibly powerful, but beyond that, she’s a captivating character who deserves to be a central figure when she finally appears.

I’m really hoping Marvel introduces Jean Grey soon as they start bringing mutants into the main MCU timeline. It feels like the perfect way to properly launch the X-Men, especially with everything pointing towards a bit of a fresh start after Secret Wars. She could be the one to really connect everything and make it feel seamless.

The MCU Needs A Win

It’s clear the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t been quite as strong since Avengers: Endgame. While there are promising projects on the horizon, like Avengers: Doomsday and the upcoming Secret Wars movie, the quality of films and shows after Endgame has been uneven. Some, such as WandaVision, were hits, but others, like Eternals, weren’t well-received. The MCU really needs a big success to regain momentum and move the franchise forward.

Fans are really hoping Jean Grey will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and many are excited about the idea of Sadie Sink playing the role. If both happened, it would generate a lot of buzz, which the MCU could definitely benefit from right now.
