With the Spring 2026 anime season winding down, a lot of shows are finishing up their runs. It looks like one of the very best – at least in my opinion – will be ending soon too. I’ve been really impressed with Witch Hat Atelier on Crunchyroll; it consistently stood out as a fantastic magical fantasy thanks to its unique story, beautiful animation, and how well the plot developed.
The anime Witch Hat Atelier was planned to have 13 episodes, and with the newest episode released, it’s getting ready for its final episode on June 22nd. A new trailer for the current story arc has also been revealed! The finale promises to be a standout episode, building up to an exciting and important event that will increase the tension. There are three key reasons why fans won’t want to miss it.
3) Classic Shonen-Style Take on the Exam

The manga Witch Hat Atelier blends elements of both seinen and shonen genres, and it’s currently using a classic shonen trope: the exam arc. Like many stories with exam arcs, a villain has interrupted the proceedings. In recent chapters, a new villain quickly took control of the exam’s supervisor and showed off their immense power.
The situation has now put all the students – and everyone else – in a position where they must face this new danger, including Qifrey and Coco. This will be the first real test of the Brimmed Caps’ strength in battle. As this is the final arc, fans can expect a significant reveal about them, but only after the intense fight they’ve been anticipating since episode 5.
2) Villain Lore

The anime Witch Hat Atelier has established that its villains are a group called the Brimmed Caps, but not much is known about them yet. We know they’re after Coco and practice dangerous magic, but details are scarce. With a key member of the Brimmed Caps playing a big role in the season’s finale, fans are eager to learn more about their origins and goals.
Now that Black Cloak, a member of the Brimmed Caps, has appeared, everyone is preparing to fight him and trap him. During this confrontation, Qifrey and his students hope to learn what the Brimmed Caps are planning – and why they’re after Coco. This would be a great way to end the current season: revealing important information about Coco while setting up storylines for future episodes.
1) Witch Hat Atelier‘s Season 1 Finale Could Be a Visual Marvel

I’ve been absolutely blown away by the animation in Witch Hat Atelier – it’s consistently been among the best I’ve seen in years! Episode five was a real standout, with action sequences unlike anything else. Things calmed down a bit after that, which was great because the series really started diving into the world and showing us how magic works within it. But now, I think we’re at the perfect point for the action to really kick back in, and I’m so excited to see what they do!
A showdown between Qifrey and his witches against the Black Cloak Brimmed Cap is coming, and it’s going to be intense. With powerful, forbidden magic involved and Qifrey risking everything to protect his apprentices, Bug Films has a chance to create an amazing sequence – similar to what they achieved in episode five. If they succeed, the finale of Witch Hat Atelier could not only be the most visually stunning episode of the series but also rival the acclaimed finale of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, making it a truly unforgettable ending that fans won’t want to skip.
