The anime My Hero Academia wrapped up Izuku Midoriya’s main story in December after eight seasons, but there’s still one last episode on the way for fans. This final episode will adapt chapter 431 of the manga, which served as an epilogue released by creator Kohei Horikoshi after the original manga finished.
The final chapter of My Hero Academia will premiere on May 2nd. While the last episode of Season 8 showed a brief look at what happens to the characters in the future, this special will explore their adult lives in more detail. It will also cover parts of the story’s epilogue that weren’t shown in the anime, including finally confirming the most anticipated romantic relationship in the series.
3) The Anime Must Expand on Ochaco’s Future

The ending of My Hero Academia shows adult Ochaco running a program to help young people with their Quirks, but the anime only briefly mentioned this. The upcoming special should expand on her dedication to this work, as the manga does. It would also be impactful to show how Toga still affects Ochaco in her dreams—something left out of the original ending. This would be a fitting way to include the villain in the series finale, and further emphasize the lasting impact of the Final War arc, explaining Ochaco’s strong commitment to helping others.
2) Shoto Officially Becoming the No. 2 Hero

As a huge fan of My Hero Academia, I was thrilled to see the manga confirm what we’ve all been hoping for – Shoto Todoroki is becoming a top hero! It’s so rewarding to see his incredible growth pay off, and the scene of Class 1-A celebrating him becoming the No. 2 hero was just perfect. Now, I’m really hoping the anime makes it official, just like they did with Mirio reaching No. 1. It definitely feels like the anime is heading that way, and I’m crossing my fingers the upcoming special will give Shoto the amazing ending he deserves!
1) Deku & Ochaco Officially Becoming Endgame

While Season 8 of My Hero Academia hints at the heroes’ futures, it doesn’t focus on any romantic pairings. This isn’t necessarily a drawback, considering the characters are still young and discovering their paths. However, the series has repeatedly suggested a connection between Deku and Ochaco, so fans deserve a clearer resolution to their potential relationship. Fortunately, the manga already provides this, with Deku and Ochaco confessing their feelings. The anime should definitely include this moment, acknowledging years of build-up between them. In fact, the anime could even expand on the manga’s subtle confirmation and give fans a more definitive outcome.
I’m really curious to hear what everyone hopes to see happen in the final moments of My Hero Academia. If you have thoughts on how the series should end, feel free to share them and discuss with other fans on the ComicBook Forum!
