It appears that Netflix’s selection of shows for July is quite enticing. However, the last weekend of June doesn’t seem to offer much in the way of entertainment.
Although options might be limited, the Watch With Us team is more than ready to take on the task of discovering and recommending three less-known Netflix series that are worth watching over the weekend.
Interestingly enough, we’ve got two fresh arrivals this week that could potentially become popular hits on Netflix.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, allow me to share my current binge-worthy recommendations. First up, I’ve been captivated by “The Royals,” a riveting four-season drama series. Secondly, I recently stumbled upon the delightful, unanticipated charm of “Son of a Critch,” a Canadian coming-of-age comedy that’s definitely worth your time. And since the final season of the gripping “Squid Game” is streaming this weekend, I couldn’t leave it out of my list!
‘The Royals’ (2015 – 2018)
Elizabeth Hurley demonstrated once more why she’s a timeless icon, particularly in the series “The Royals,” which made history as the first scripted show on the E! channel. In this drama, Hurley portrays Queen Helena Henstridge, the matriarch of the British Royal family and wife to King Simon Henstridge (played by Vincent Regan). The younger children of Helena, Prince Liam Henstridge (William Moseley) and Princess Eleanor Henstridge (Alexandra Park), however, seem more captivated by the perks of wealth and fame rather than embodying the essence of royalty.
In this narrative, Helena’s eldest son, Max Brown (previously known as Robert Henstridge), is the one destined to rule. However, unfortunate events lead to his demise in a plane crash. This leaves Liam with the challenge of proving himself worthy as a successor, while Eleanor battles to emerge from a self-created downward spiral. Helena, determined to keep her family’s power intact, is willing to go to great lengths to ensure their continued prominence.

‘Squid Game’ (2021 – 2025)
In the first Squid Game, it was Lee Jung-jae’s character, Seong Gi-hun, who emerged victorious. He chose to return for a second round not because of any desire for more, but with the intention of putting an end to these deadly competitions forever. However, in season 2 of Squid Game, things didn’t go as planned for Gi-hun. His uprising was undermined from within when his comrade, Hwang In-ho, portrayed by Lee Byung-hun, turned against him and exposed the truth about In-ho’s significant role in orchestrating these games.
In the concluding season, Gi-hun and Kang Dae-ho, played by Kang Ha-neul, are locked in a bitter dispute following their unsuccessful uprising. If either of them makes it through alive, there’s still one more set of games to conquer. However, this last round is even more perilous than the games they have faced before.

‘Son of a Critch’ (2022 – Present)
Mark Critch developed the TV series “Son of a Critch,” drawing inspiration from his personal experiences growing up in Canada during the ’80s. In this production, he assumes the role of his father, Mike Critch, while also serving as the older narrator. However, the show primarily revolves around Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, portraying a young Mark character. This young Mark is an awkward child who struggles with social interactions and forming friendships.
Among Mark’s initial tormentors at school is Jennifer Fox, who later on may evolve in their relationship. Managing school life and young romance proves to be a significant hurdle for Mark. Fortunately, he has his grandfather, Malcolm McDowell, known as Patrick “Pop” Critch, to lean on when the rest of his family fails to provide assistance.
