Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga! Jujutsu Kaisen is incredibly popular right now, thanks to both its third anime season and the new sequel manga, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. The series continues to impress fans with ongoing projects and updates. The main story concluded in September 2024, with the final volumes released in December. While the anime is just starting the Culling Game Arc, manga readers already know what makes this arc so significant. Beyond the intense fights and new characters, it also explains Ryomen Sukuna’s true intentions.
After the challenging arc involving the Fearsome Cursed Womb, Sukuna began showing a peculiar interest in Megumi Fushiguro, even rescuing him during the intense Shibuya Incident. These actions made it clear he had significant plans for Megumi. The manga revealed Sukuna’s ultimate goal on February 6th, 2023, with the release of Chapter 212: he possessed Megumi’s body, launching the story into its final arc.
Sukuna Fought Gojo Using Megumi’s Body in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Final Arc

Sukuna understood he couldn’t simply possess Megumi’s body, as Megumi had the same potential as Yuji to contain him. Instead, Sukuna deliberately crushed Megumi’s spirit by killing his sister with the Ten Shadows Technique. This act of devastation left Megumi vulnerable, paving the way for Sukuna to take control. This shocking turn of events kicks off the final arc of the story, which unfolds during the Culling Game. Fans will see this major plot point adapted in the second half of Season 3 of the anime, and it promises to be a very powerful and emotional scene.
After crushing Megumi’s will, the villain performed a ritual to further weaken his spirit before challenging Satoru Gojo. Because Sukuna had switched bodies, Yuji was no longer his host, but Yuji had still learned to control Sukuna’s powers. Now, Sukuna possessed both his original abilities and Megumi’s techniques, including the incredibly powerful Mahoraga.
The battle between Gojo and Sukuna happened because Sukuna possessed Megumi’s body. After taking control of Megumi, Sukuna quickly defeated Gojo. With Gojo defeated, Sukuna then fought against a large group of sorcerers and managed to hold his own.
