The anime and manga world is constantly expanding, which often means older series are eventually overlooked, especially if they don’t have new releases. However, some series remain popular with fans, like Ai Yazawa’s Nana. Originally published in the magazine Cookie in 2000, Nana quickly became a classic Shojo manga. Yazawa is a highly respected manga artist, known for other beloved works like I’m No Angel, Neighborhood Story, and Paradise Kiss. Unfortunately, the manga went on indefinite pause in 2009 after 84 chapters due to the author’s illness. Despite this, Yazawa has remained involved with the series through illustrations and updates. In 2025, she announced plans to finish the story, as it’s nearing its conclusion, sparking excitement among fans. However, a release date is still awaited. Additionally, the renowned studio Madhouse created an anime adaptation in 2006, producing 47 episodes, but it also didn’t complete the entire story.
