4 Biggest Avengers: Doomsday Rumors From This Week, Ranked by How Exciting They Are

2025 has seen its share of superhero films. All the movies have finished their theatrical runs, and while the box office numbers weren’t massive, they were solid and pave the way for even greater success in 2026. DC Studios is hoping to keep up its momentum by releasing both Supergirl and Clayface, both of which boast impressive creative teams. However, it will be challenging for either film to be the main topic of conversation, as Marvel Studios has the fifth Avengers movie scheduled for next year. Avengers: Doomsday will bring back Robert Downey Jr., along with several well-known actors from the X-Men franchise. That’s all Marvel Studios is sharing about the project for now.

Even though filming has wrapped up, the Russo brothers and the whole team behind Doomsday are being really tight-lipped – they don’t want to spoil anything! Because of that, the rumor mill is working overtime; it’s honestly the only place we can get a hint of what’s happening. I’ve gathered the four biggest Doomsday rumors circulating this week, and I’m ranking them from most to least exciting.

4) Chris Evans Has a Major Role in the Movie

Okay, so as a huge movie fan, I’ve been hearing whispers about Chris Evans – you know, the Captain America guy – potentially being in Doomsday for a while now. Seriously, everyone seems to think it’s happening! Now, a well-known leaker, DanielRPK, is saying it’s not just a cameo, but a major role. Look, I love seeing Cap team up with the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as much as the next person, but honestly, he’s played that part so many times. It’s tough to get super excited, you know?

3) A Title Change Could Be on the Way

Honestly, everyone online seems to be buzzing about this one, so it’s not just coming from a single source. After the Russo brothers dropped this really intriguing image of the Doomsday set – and it had the letter “X” popping up all over the place – the idea of the X-Men finally teaming up with the Avengers as a proper team has really taken off. We don’t know yet if we’ll actually see an “Avengers vs. X-Men” storyline, but it’s definitely a fascinating thought, and I’m excited to see where this goes. It’s a really interesting prospect nonetheless.

2) The Teaser Will Be Out Before 2026

DanielRPK is reporting that the first look at the Doomsday trailer will likely be shown alongside another big Disney movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash. This makes sense, as Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters one year after James Cameron’s newest sci-fi film. While it’s probably not going to be a long, plot-revealing trailer, we can definitely expect to see a good look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doom, and that’s enough to get fans excited.

1) Ghost Rider Has a Cameo

Everyone is buzzing about Ghost Rider following Mephisto’s recent appearance in the MCU. The Spirit of Vengeance gets their abilities from a demonic source, and according to DanielRPK, rumors suggesting Ghost Rider will appear in Doomsday are true. It would be fantastic to see the flaming skull on the big screen once more, particularly if Nicolas Cage returns to play the character.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026.
